Looking forward to rooting for Bethel at the Sioux Falls Johnnie gathering!  Go Royals!!

No doubt one of you will correct me if I am wrong, but isn't only "in region" record counted toward play-offs?
Bethel's loss at Top 5 Wheaton wouldn't count if the previous thought is correct.

If Bethel runs the table (not easy with St T and Augs still upcoming), they might get Pool C consideration - I would think their run last year would help. . . right?

Strib story on Coach J was pretty neat - the entire Johnson family is pretty incredible.  If you're ever in Maple Grove on a Sunday you should drop in and listen to Dave Johnson preach at Open Door.

GO ROYALS!!!!!

None of the interviews were of Wetzel -

You defend UWEC's reputation by referencing the "Wisconsin system" - clearly as UW-whatever you can't say you graduated from THE University of Wisconsin - how do you explain it to people?  "I went to a much smaller school that is supported by the regental system of Wisconsin."  ???

I would never argue that Bethel - or any other MIAC school - is an educational panacea, but I don't think I'd ever recommend a kid go to UW-[fill in the black].  Why not attend a state's flagship institution if you're going to go to a state school?

Also, your BU/UWEC comparison leaves out what it costs an out of state student to attend UWEC - though I'm not sure how many out of staters select UW-[fill in the blank].

We're still here - we just get such joy from reading all your rants and raves that we don't want to interrupt the banter.

A couple of years ago the MIAC got more "strict" on the all-conference selections, now it seems they are back to the "everybody gets an award" approach.

MIAC Awards are out - a little surprised by the Stam winner.  While I don't follow every team's O-line, I follow the MIAC pretty closely and had never heard of this guy.

I have some issues with the all-miac selections - why not honor everybody if you're going to honor 6!!! QBs in a 9 team conference?  That is a bit rediculous.

The other observation, wow, olaf graduates a lot of talent!!  This may have been their best shot. . .

MIAC AWARDS - could be another Bethel sweep!!

MVP - Wetzel (perhaps Penz?)
Stamm - Tommy Davis - leader of a dominating Bethel O-line
COTY - Johnson (Meidt didn't earn too much respect this year, but perhaps Horan with the nice job he did up at Concordia)

Back at work today and none of my co-workers here in Sioux Falls, SD can believe there were 10k at a D3 game in St. Paul on Saturday - great game and atmosphere.

Also, great looking waitresses at Old Chicago after the game!!

TDT - yeah, I replied to OAS.

I mis-read DuffMan's post.  That's it.

Go Royals!!

You mention the BC(U)/Carleton game from 2001, but you fail to point out some important distinctions.  While the final touchdowns in both games were interceptions returned for TDs, key difference is who was playing while the last 3-4 TDs were scored.
In 2001 for Bethel the last 28 points were scored by freshmen (see below) and the one before that was a long run by Mike Johnson with 10 minutes left in the 3rd Q.
  3rd Q 01:35 BC - Zack Ludvigson 34 yd pass from Tom Lachermeier (Paul Tschetter kick), 3-50 0:44, CARLETON 2 -           BC 55
  4th 08:30 BC - Jesse Dick 44 yd run (Ryan Davis kick), 4-56 1:28, CARLETON 2 - BC 62
   06:16 BC - Andrew Wright 69 yd run (Ryan Davis kick), 2-69 0:45, CARLETON 2 - BC 69
01:21 BC - Brian Pierce 95 yd interception return (Ryan Davis kick), , CARLETON 2 - BC 76

While I think the Bethel game score got out of hand, I can attest that during the final TD int return Coach J was yelling, as Pierce ran down the opposite sideline, for Brian to take a knee.

But you're right, the common thread between the two games, Chris Meidt.

Bethel had an impact transfer in my day - Deon Jordan.  He was arguably the difference when BC beat SJU in 2000 at Arden Hills.  He was a really tough little possession receiver who found lots of soft spots in the SJU secondary.  We found out only days later that someone - who shall remain nameless, but beat BC in 2003 for his 409th win - was raising questions about Deon's eligibility.  It could have been a major blow to the BC program, but thankfully he was cleared by his previous institution and everything worked out - except that we lost to PLU in the playoffs. . .

CCKnight.  Don't fool yourself.  The game was never in doubt after the first  5-7 minutes of the third quarter.

Plus, your coaches are annoying in the press box.  I stood outside and couldn't help but laugh at how many times they yelled about players "being soft" - i.e., getting their tail handed to them.

I'll second Carl.  The Johnnies had some soccer stud a couple of years ago - 04 or maybe 05, I can't recall, who everyone thought would be the second coming of Rotundi (who wasn't that good).  The kid never panned out.

The Johnnies haven't had a very strong kicker in quite some time (and still have been very successful) - even that little Brandon kid was limited to only 30 yards and in.

Where'd the Silly go??

Hearing rumors that if Russell signs with the Raiders this week that they will trade Culpepper back to us.
