No losing seasons since 1995 is going to be in some serious jeopardy on Saturday. I am concerned that DePauw's wins have some against some mediocre (at best) teams this season.  The only game I attended was against a motivated U of the South team that gamed and blitzed a frustrated DPU offense which chould not protect against it nor effectively move the ball because of it.  Wabash might be a little bit better than Sewanee :o, but stranger things have happened in this game.  I hope Coach Long has the game plan to end all game plans, scouting that would make 'Ace' Rothstein (Casino reference conicidentally released in 1995) look like a slacker, and the Tigers perfectly execute it on Satuday.  Make me sick to think that my daughter (born in February and will not attend Wabash) has to live in a world where the Bell is housed in Crawfordsville and the Packers are Super Bowl champs.

What an embarrassment.  Hats off to Wabash's determination, preparation, and execution today.

Thanks for the reprint of that SI article, BashDad. I was spending my junior year in Scotland in '93, and my parents sent me a copy of the article, which is how I learned of the game's outcome that year. (These were the dark, pre-internet days, Bear. Alas with no internet, I had to spend all my time wooing women that year - quite successfully, I might add; dating all those DePauw women had been good practice). It thrilled me to no end to read it!

Dasturdybegger, I don't know if dating Scottish women is something to brag about . . .

Well at the risk of being accused of plagiarism: Yawn....

Scottish, English, Irish, French, Spanish, Italian, Israeli....Shall I continue...?

Anyway, the real competition is on the field tomorrow.

As we can see from this board, the competition never stops!

Don't ya just love it?!

Absolutely!  The continued competition between DePauw and Wabash extending from the time we attend our storied institutions to well beyond the days we have graduated make this one of the more special rivalries in the US.  The fact that alums continue to use each other institution (and graduates) as a measuring stick for achivements and comparisons continues the tradition and rivalry.

DePauw's Game Notes are posted for the Bell game.

IMHO, DPU Sports Information Director Bill Wagner puts together the best pre-game notes I've seen...anywhere.

The ammount of work Wags puts in and the product produced is awsome.  Here's to a great game tomorrow and to DePauw not letting up since they have a game next week for the first time.

Bear,

A work thing messed up travel plans, have some barley soda and brisket for me!

The post about the SCAC players of the week inaccurately says it is Millsaps first win at Depauw as Millsaps won there in 1994.  I'm guessing it is their first SCAC win at DePauw?

Any DePauw alums going to the Univ of Chicago game on Saturday? Guff, Tyler and I will be there.

Trash talk is a means of containment.  The group percieved to be in power seeks to put the "other" in the place they want them to be.  This is because they are insecure with their own position.

I know I'm a little late coming into the discussion, but I am disappointed to see the coaching turnover at DePauw.  I guess this is what comes when you have Coach Nick at the helm for 20 plus years and then have a new head coach every year since.  I do wish Coach Walker the best of luck this year (in both football and baseball).  Werner99 and I played with him, and he is a stand up guy.

I am so excited for the game this week.  Hopefully we see a hard fought injury free game. With the records of both teams gentlemen it should be a good one.  See you in Greencastle!

To the DePauw faithful

What have you done today to beat Wabash!

For any DePauw faithful interested, Monon Bell tickets are being sold tomorrow.

I don't know if they renovated the visitor's facilities at DePauw, but when I was there I almost felt bad for the visiting team having to get ready in that brick outhouse just beyond the endzone.

wabco,
Your aspersions are ridiculous.
