One good source is
http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/
Fascinating. For the year 2008, the most recent year available - football spending:
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor TX 974833 (#2)
East Texas Baptist University TX 589888 (#6)
Louisiana College LA 532123 (#10)
Texas Lutheran University TX 530765 (#11)
Hardin-Simmons University TX 515000 (#13)
Mississippi College MS 491677 (#21)
Howard Payne University TX 457237 (#30)
McMurry University TX 440394 (#39)
Sul Ross State University TX 134094 (#221)
Unless the numbers are compiled the same, you are comparing apples to oranges.
At Sul Ross the coaches teach. At UMHB none of the coaches teach.
Some SCAC schools for comparison:
Birmingham Southern College AL 1190265 (#1)
Millsaps College MS 591682 (#5)
DePauw University IN 511341 (#14)
Trinity University TX 361692 (#84)
Colorado College CO 309575 (#134)
Austin College TX 291022 (#142)
B-SC and UMHB were #1 and #2 by a significant margin. #3 was St. Vincent College ($600K).

The story talks about Coach Howard being inducted into the 2010 Silver Anniversary Class of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Congratulations to Coach Howard.

Does anyone know what happened to Dylan Howard, the former HSU coach? What's he doing since he left HSU?

HSU football commit played there and apparently missed a few classes. Rider High School is in Wichita Falls.Quote from: HSU Football Commit on February 21, 2009, 06:34:38 PM
i think u might be underestimateing the abilities of there 18 year olds... some of the high school programs that we come from send three or four kids to D1 level such as Denison, Rider etc... so we studs maybe more talented than u give us credit for...
Denison is Division III and Rider doesn't have football.

And Mary Hardin-Baylor, the one with the statistically high OWP, is the one that invited UW-Whitewater to its tournament and scheduled Trinity and Southwestern. Ken DeWeese gets it. LetU is benefiting from that schedule as well. UTD and UTT are benefiting from Guilford's presence in UTD's tourney.
UMHB has a win over UW-W #5 in the West region and 2 over McMurry #4 in the South. Almost all of their losses have been to ranked teams.

Nor are two offenses on the field at the same time. Do you suppose the fact that UMHB had three first-teamers on defense and W&J had none was a factor here?
Do you know when the nomination deadline was and when the voting took place?

December 10, 2008, 09:38:18 AMQuote from: Bill McCabe on December 10, 2008, 07:11:07 AMEver the diplomat, Bill. The team that lost 63-7 last week placed 5 players in the offense top 26 and the team that won 63-7 placed 2. I guess the voters don't have to consider head to head matchups.Quote from: Bob.Gregg on December 09, 2008, 10:20:20 PMQuote from: Bill McCabe on December 08, 2008, 06:43:12 PM
I'd be hard pressed to name one W&J starter that was better than his counterpart on UMHB.
Not that I agree, but the D3 All-Region list might help you.
And yes, in this particular instance, I'm being a smackoff! Hope you see the joke!
Based on the play last Saturday, I would say the All Region team is a little off.

December 10, 2008, 06:48:57 AMQuote from: Pat Coleman on December 09, 2008, 10:40:28 PMAs usual Pat you are correct in your summation. UMHB doesn't have any vote worthy all region candidates, just a bunch of winners.Quote from: imad3fanatic on December 09, 2008, 09:59:38 PMQuote from: Josh Bowerman on December 09, 2008, 09:21:14 PMW & J scores 7 on UMHB and they have 5 second teamers on offense. UMHB scores 63 on W & J and 46 on Wesley and they get only 2 on offense----- "Lucy you got some splaning to do".
Little surprised/disappointed that Justin Feaster, the ASC Offensive Player of the Year and Gagliardi Trophy finalist, was left off the All Region Team...![]()
Your top running back started three regular-season games at the position and even to this date has started less than half of UMHB's games at running back. He wasn't really even eligible to be nominated. You don't have receivers to nominate. That leaves the quarterback and the line. Quarterback is hard enough to crack as it is in this region. So ... here we are.

Lots of new jucos. I would imagine they will be pretty good.
I count 42, how do you manage that with half or less on your active roster. What do the other guys do?

Freeman has been resigned by the Titans. He was released earlier, but the Titan's LB corps is pretty banged up. Hope Jerrell can stick this time.

I would say that this post wasn't needed. We all recognize that you are not a fan of the CRU.
