What is the deal with Shufford?

He and their big receiver, #1, were both shockingly absent from their game in Little Rock last spring.  It really, really made a difference.

The coach makes no mention of Shufford in his 2021 fall preseason remarks, and names the players that will be carrying the ball by committee.

Shufford shows up last night and dominates.

Since BSC fans seem to be the most regular participants here, I figure someone can fill in the holes.  I know there was some kind of provision made for last year's seniors to get another year of eligibility, but I don't know the specifics.  It just all seems so weird.

I just got back from a few days evacuated in Birmingham, by the way.  Toured the very nice campus, and like the way Birmingham blends new and old world living between city hall and UAB.  Looks like y'all are on a pretty good path, but I read that population is falling.  I did enjoy my stay, and hope that the school's and city's best days are ahead.  Good luck to the Panthers except on November 6th.

Is there no video available on the web of Jordan West vs. CWRU?

First it was "equipment reservation forms," now Dennis Dunn is giving out "Football Scholarships."

Wildcats should do well in the coming years.

Millsaps at 7-0, Rhodes at a not seen in decades with back to back winning seasons, an apparent collision course for the championship in week 11 at Memphis.

Where are y'all?  No posts in almost a month!

Does anyone know where Nyk McKissic was in the last four weeks of the season?

Does anyone know where to look at the national Division III statistical leaders?

I'm right here.

When I thought about posting last week I realized I couldn't contribute anything that hadn't already been said.  Seems to me that most people are surprised, as am I, that the Cru is this good and that Trinity has been so mediocre.  The gap between the contenders and the next level is and has been far too wide to cross for about six years and it appears that yet another purple school has found themselves way, way above the rest.  Hopefully they'll get to Salem.

I'm not sure what year it was, but Hollway went away from the Wing-T before retiring.  He completely polarized and last year the Bishops threw on almost every down.  They were in a very wide open spread.  With the same kids, the new coach is 3-0.  Case outgained them by almost 100 yards, and the box score reveals that OWU did struggle on offense, but had enough guts to get the win.  I couldn't say what the difference actually is, but times sure are exciting in Delaware.  As long as the Buckeyes aren't in Columbus at the same time in the coming weeks, it would be great to see a full home side of Selby.  Such a great facility/school deserves a great team.

Today's thrashing was not solely an issue of the secondary.  Sul Ross couldn't be stopped in any way.  They really just did whatever they wanted all game long and you can only do that to Trinity if you have great players, which Sul Ross apparently has all of a sudden.

Sul Ross is awesome.

Trinity will be ready for UMHB without a doubt.  UMHB will be flat coming off their big win today and with the knowledge that Trinity got dominated by a perennial ASC bottom feeder.  The game in San Antonio will be a very tough one and I can't think there's a clear favorite considering the circumstances.  The Crusaders probably are the superior team, but again- the circumstances.

After playing Trinity, UMHB gets Sul Ross and that is going to be the end of a murderous three game stretch for the Crusaders.  A whipping of today's proportion is not a fluke and no upset.  You can only do that to a team like Trinity if you have superior athletes/players, which Sul Ross Apparently all of a sudden has. Trinity could apparently do nothing to help themselves on defense.  I can see Sul Ross beating UMHB coming off the bye and then running the table in the ASC.

Don't get too caught up in the stats.  Conservative play calling with a late lead looked like the mode of operation for many weeks, and despite it keeping the games close, the Tigers won over and over on the strength of the defense.  When they got in the Austin game, they tried to get aggressive with the play calling and it yielded three interceptions and nearly cost them the game.  The next week there were four.  Trinity always scored enough early in games to let the defense carry them the rest of the way, and McKissic definitely has some pretty serious skills, but he needs to be on for the whole game and the whole season.  If I'm the coach, I'm looking very closely at the quarterback position, because I think it was the difference between winning and losing in the first round last season.

First nine games?  Hmm.  I would say that the offense peaked in week three at Rhodes.  The very next week they scored ten points in Jackson and were basically a non-factor when it came to putting games away starting then.  I kept watching the defense force stops and the Tigers couldn't do anything on offense late in games.  Somehow the interceptions started in the last week, but he would always start strong and then just kind of vanish in the second half.

Does anyone know anything of the quarterback situation in San Antonio?  Is there a situation?  I suspect spring ball would have indicated one way or the other.

Alright, well then I'm confused.  I thought the whole idea behind seceding from the SCAC was to reduce travel to places such as Colorado and Texas.  Yet everyone is still playing Trinity.

Trinity's offense and defense are equally unbelievable, but for opposite reasons.  I would just feel so frustrated if I were on that Tiger defense.  My gosh, they were awesome this year.

It looks like McKissick just peaked early in the season.  I have to think that with the way the bottom fell out from under him late this year, there's got to be a QB competition next fall.

Still, what a year!
