Stoutguy, who cares about the misspelling I'm typing that on an iphone, not the easiest key pad.  The point is, outside of the MIAC and the Twin Cities, a degree from Bethel mind as well be a degree from any other university.  Any person who argues that probably hasn't spent a lot of time outside the midwest in the business arena.  I'm not saying its not a good education just don't try to be all high and mighty like a degree from Bethel means something more.

By the way Bethel is still by far the team with the best sportsmanship I have ever played, but that probably comes from religious background of most who attend there.

thefreebird- a degree from bethel means nothing special outside of the MIAC and the twin cities, being in business in a large metro area on the pacific coast, no one has ever heard bethel.  They have however have heard of the university of Wisconsin system.

thefreebird- you keep looking for credit for BU's 21 points when 14 of them came on very short fields and the other 7 came after EC's lack of passing attack force the defense to spend an eternity on the field.  Not to mention Hull played the entire 4th quarter with broken/dislocated finger/hand, looked like a golf ball under his skin.

AO- as for your belittling of WIAC education, I attended the highschool that probably sends the largest number of students to Bethel and let me tell ya you have got some real losers going to school there, there is nothing to brag about in that area.

Observations from the BU EC game.

Bethel is not impressive at all.

Eau Claire's defense is very good.

Give Eau Claire a QB that was a passing threat in that game and they beat Bethel by 17 points.

Bman,

I didn't mean the west in general because in Minnesota, Iowa, Dakota's there are plenty of D2's and D1AA's.  I was focusing on WI only.    My bad on the draftees I was wrong there, was only looking at the WIAC ones.
You guys are way too nice here on the MAC board.  Don't mean to be inflamitory, I am just used to having to be on the WIAC and MIAC boards.  You guys aren't as mean as the MIAC and WIAC posters.

PBR,

Thats not a question to ask him, he hasn't seen any of the MAC play.  Having played in D2 level and D3 level I can tell you that the WIAC is CLEARLY superior to almost all other conferences in D3 and some D2.  If they chose to move up to D2 they would be very competitive quickly.

The talent in the WIAC is no mistake.  When you are a highschool football player in Wisconsin, you have two options.
#1 you go to Madison because you are D1 material or shipped out of state to another D1
#2 you go to a WIAC school, there are not to many options for D1AA or D2

That leads to many players that are D1AA or D2 material playing in the WIAC, which is why they have more players make it to the NFL then conferences like that MAC, to many options out East for highschool players.

D3 football players drafted:
Year Player, school Team Round-overall
2006 Michael Allan, Whitworth Chiefs 7-231
2006 Derek Stanley, UW-Whitewater Rams 7-249
2003 Ryan Hoag, Gustavus Adolphus Raiders 7-262
2002 Tony Beckham, UW-Stout Titans 4-115
2002 Michael Coleman, Widener Falcons 7-217
2000 Tim Watson, Rowan Seahawks 6-185
1999 Clint Kriewaldt, UW-Stevens Point Lions 6-177
1996 Ethan Brooks, Williams Falcons 7-229

Not to mention Pete Schmitt and Derek Stanley of Whitewater both on teams currently.

Also, Owen Schmitt, fullback at West Virginia, who started at UW-River Falls and transferred to UWV.  Blocking for Slaton and White, will be a NFL player soon.

High,

Just stating that they have consistently dominated that part of the country and to have any other teams, Whitewater, beat them regularly is odd.  You wouldn't know that being out east, didn't expect you to get it.  Pat would know.

It was a joke, I know nothing of the MAC, no one does outside of your conference.  Frankly I would like to see the MAC play the WIAC and see what happens, it would be ugly, clean sweep on the WIAC's side.  Shoot the WIAC could sweep some D2 conferences (NSIC).

Pat is correct, the bad karma is completely the St. Johns posters, they don't like me, I think its because we are the only team that can say they do not dominate on a regular basis in the regular season.

Region 1 football (New England-ish) / Albright

Albright has a new coach, Andy Aurich, which will allow them to kill all of the MAC this year.  No other team has a chance, good luck!

I think the season rests on the shoulders of whomever is the QB for the season.  With the receiving core they return, one would think that some kid with a good arm could become a star.  The defense should be one of if not the best in the WIAC depending on the replacement of the only two players gone, Sikora and Tieri.  With the addition of Roeker(if he is coming back) that front 7 is really really good.  It does say (on the website) that Sipple will remain at DC, but don't think for a second that Glaser won't be hands on with the D.  The last time the EC defense was dominate was when Glaser was there, he seems to have the Johnnies number and gets the D ready for that game better then most coaches.

Does anyone know if Jared Roeker is back this year at EC?   If so thats not good news for the rest of the conference because then EC will be returning all of the front 7 except Jones who will be replace by Roeker.

Glaser is the man at UWEC.  Well this is not to be surprising since his ties to UWEC and his coach of the year in the OAC made him a shoe in for the position.  There are few in the coaching ranks that have as much passion for Blugold football as coach Glaser.  I had the privilage to play for him and know what dedication and love he has for the program.  He will take it places that Hoffner could never because Hoff was an outsider and not an alum.  The defense has taken a noticable slide since coach Sipple has taken over, he probably never had the background to be the coordinator and it showed in the horrible numbers the D put up while he was there.  Good luck to coach Glaser and expect big things from the Blugolds next year.

Next, question is who does Glaser name as his offensive coordinator next year and will it be the same offensive scheme because that will lead to an easy trasition and a better year, next year.

All this talk about UWW coaches getting the UWEC job is nice but there are only three names that I think EC people get excited about.

1. Todd Glaser- Mr. Eau Claire, bleeds blue and gold and has a pride in the program that is unrivaled.  If he wants the job he should be considered a front runner.

2. Glenn Caruso- He was Very well liked while at UWEC.  Also, I believe he and his family really liked it in Eau Claire.  His background and credentials I believe are more impressive then any assitant at WW or another D3 school.

3. LuBuda- The name in the Chippewa Valley carries a lot of weight.  I don't think the administration will give him what he wants.  With UWEC considered one of the better jobs in D3 football (not $$$ wise), is a highschool coach going to get that job?

I think that Glaser gets the job if he applies but I would like to see Caruso get the job because of his fire and energy that he would bring to the program, also his ability to recruit and connect with the players and recruits.  In a perfect world Casruso would be running the offense and Glaser would be running the defense and Link Walker doing the "Bobby Bowden" administrative head coaching, then the Blugolds would be a force!

Great idea of the week:

Stream a live television feed of the game just like they did for the UWEC vs. UWW game earlier this season.  That would get some ratings throughout the country, from Oregon to Delaware.  Anyone know why this isn't happening, they are showing the game on Charter Cable channel 19/20, so why not stream that bitch for the rest of us!

If they put 166 yards up rushing on Linfield on Saturday they will win the game because that also means that they put up about 250 through the air and thats why UWW wins on Saturday.
