Couldn't agree more......well said.  The time goes by way too quickly.  Still miss the road trips, tailgates, and of course, the games, 10 years later.  All the best to the kids.....enjoy!

Makes one understand why the Midds have somewhat protected their #1 QB with conservative play calling.  I remember folks on the board throwing shade on him for not trying to gain additional yards in the final moments of their victory over Lord Mammoths.  Seems to me the coaches were smart.

Playing Bates and knowing Trinity was ahead....very surprised he was exposed to taking unnecessary shots in a game they probably win without him based on reports that the Midds are deep at the QB position.

Hope he's okay.  But, if not, the future is now for those behind him!

If anyone can recommend a good sports bar in Medford area....I am all ears.  Want to catch 2nd half of Penn St v Ohio St game on Saturday.  Why they have that game at 3pm....just makes zero sense

For game-watching, there are a number of bars/pubs which is very close to the Tufts campus.  One recommendation there would be Joshua Tree.  Enjoy!

Midd and Williams turn the lemon of being in the sticks into lemonade. Others in the sticks have not found the recipe.

Excuse me, but Williams is the number one liberal arts college in the country.  I think that may be an advantage.  Sticks or no sticks.

See my post on page 865 from 10/16.  Whether sticks or no sticks it's all good.  Good win for the Jumbos today at Williams.  Sets up the game next week nicely with Amh.  Should be an interesting rest of the season.

btw, pardon my typos but hopefully you get my point.

Tufts had generally some lean years athletically in some measure due to The lack of support from the previous president/administration.  Much of the recent athletic success, not just I football but in all sports, changed when the new president took over.  He understands the overall advantages of having a good sports program going hand-in-hand with world class education.  Some kids prefer the "woods", my son did not, hence his and others attraction to a campus closer to a major city.  Each student is different and hopefully they choose what fits them best in sports has most importantly in academics.

Unreal sequence.  Bants return int 100 yds for td. Pat blocked and returned for safety by the Jumbos.  13-9 with 7 minutes in 3rd Q.

Yikes!  We traveled from the Jersey Shore to Medford for all the games when our son was a Jumbo and many of the away games.  The round trip one game to Williamstown was not fun but worth the effort.

ITH radio...thanks for the info...plus k.  I had a post discussion here or elsewhere a time back about SHU' s football field location.  SHU church and HS is located in prime real estate as well as limited space due to roadways.  I find this topic somewhat linked to earlier discussions on this board about football finances, tradition, etc.  It is a little ironic to me that Fairfield Un had a good football history and the land but dropped football, whereas, SHU had no football history at all...in the late 60's and now supports a competitive football program.  There is a private school...Fairfield Prep nearby that has a thriving athletic program with a rep for sending football players to the Nescac and other top academic colleges.  My eldest son roomed for 3 years with a Fairfield Prep grad that was a capt of the Amherst hockey team.  My wife's Aunt worked at Fairfield Un and her two sons went to Fairfield Prep and Fairfield Un...do not think she knows why football was dropped, but I believe it has to do with money primarily.
Fairfield class of '73 here.  The Stags had moderate success with their on again/off again football program.  amh63 is correct....it eventually came down to money as the reason to drop the sport.  Basketball has always been the primary sport at FU but they've also had some success in soccer, baseball, and more recently lacrosse.

Forget about the signal calling questions re Bowdoin.   What the Bears need is a commitment at the very top to build a football program and then, as a result, an ability on the part of the coaches to go out and get that talent.   They could have the original Dan Marino at QB and the team would still not be any good.   Caputi may have been a fine man, but either he was unable to recruit or the administration didn't give him the support required.   Say what we want about the excellence of the schools that reside in the bottom of the NESCAC - and they are outstanding schools - but it is damn hard to build a program into a contender from the current residence in the bottom of the barrel.   Very, very difficult with multiple years required.   It took Amherst years to get back from the post-Ostendarp years and we count our blessings every day for what EJ - with great support from the administration - has done.   I wish Bowdoin all the best in creating a football program that mirrors the excellence of the school.
Civetti became the head coach at Tufts in 2011.  He's done a remarkable job but it took him but it took him until last year's 6-2 season to have a winning record.
