Dr. X-

Nothing much to add, but I was shocked with your +K to me, so I had to log on and return the favor. +K to you as well!

GO PROFS!

JT,

I don't want to argue with you, as I definitely respect your knowledge of the game and I do agree that you need to stretch the field occasionally in the first half to keep the defense honest.  But late in the fourth quarter, when you are trying to win the game and keep the defense off of the field, is not the time to try and stretch the field and go 3 and out.  Where the Prof's have had success is when they roll Orihel out and hit the 10 yard pass, and let the receiver run another 5-10 yards, to keep the chains moving, and hopefully go in and score and win it in regulation.

I do agree that if this years Prof team is going to win, they need to throw the ball more.  I know the WR that dropped that long pass didn't want to, and those young outside kids have been trying and getting better all year.  However, with almost an entire year of experience under their belts, it's time for them to step up and start making plays, to make a run at the title.

I agree that a few of the sacks that Orihel took he possibly waited to long to throw the ball, but that's easy for me to say from the stands, when I don't have a 300lb kid in my face.  However, if we were to roll him out, it would give him and the young WR's more time to get open, and more time to complete the ball and make the right reads.

I also wanted to congradulate the Prof's defense for stepping it up in OT.  That was simply awesome.  Heimrel is a freak and then Syed came up huge with the other sack.  Bellamy played awesome and it was great to see Tosh and Bailey back in action after getting dinged up a little of the past few weeks.

The games we've played to this point are behind us, now we need to put it all together.  If we do, this could be an exciting November and December for Prof fans!

'06 Profs... WAY TO STEP UP...

Bottom line is, good teams find a way to win.  Cortland was giving RU way too many chances to win in the second half.  I couldn't belive it took us that long to score.  However, going into OT, I knew the game was ours.

I still think that the play calling is suspect at best for RU.  Besides the play action call in OT, I thought that the play calling was horrendous.  Why are we trying to throw the ball 50 yards down field to young WR's that aren't ready yet in their careers to make big plays?  Why are we having our QB stay in the pocket and not roll out and get him sacked?  If we have any shot at winning the east, we need to roll out Orihel, get him on the corner to by him some time and hit the short crossing patterns.  Our WR's are too young, and out O line is also too young to have our QB sit back there and wait for something to open up.  The running game looks like in has disappeared in the last two games.  I know that we have faced some pretty good "D's", but we need to be running the ball a little better as well.  Still predictable.  I couldn't believe that we won the coin toss and took the ball, that's a first for this season I believe, and it shows pride in your "O".

We need to start converting some 3rd downs more often.  We go three and out way too much, We consistently run on 1st and 2nd down and are put into 3rd and long all season long.  The defense is the core of this years team and we need to keep them off the field longer and play the field position game.  Cortland totally had the better field position for 4 quarters on Saturday.

Defense this week looked strong again.  Besides that first series, the "D" was bend but don't break, and I'll take that any day of the week.  The Cortland punter was awesome, probably one of the best D3 punters I've ever seen.  Cortland is a great team that has fallen on bad luck.  We Prof fans know what it is like to be without your starting QB, especially come playoff time.  I wish all three QB's the best, for a healthy and speedy recovery.  I don't care if it's my worst football enemy, I hate to see D3 kids get hurt.

I was wishing though after the game that I had a permanent marker to go over to the Cortland stands and correct their fans posters that were flying all game that said C-State 8-0.  8-0, opps I meant 8-1.

For this coming week, also a short week of practice for the Profs, if we can put together an offensive strategy to get our QB rolling out and throwing the short pass, work on special teams a bit and just solidify our "D", we'll go deep into the playoffs.  I heard in the stands that Zach Garren is out for the rest of the year, which is a HUGE blow to the "D".  The kid is just nasty and a stud, so I also wish him a speedy recovery.

Profs roll this week verse Willy P.  I would love to see the offense click and get ready for the playoffs and get up big in the first half, then let the underclassmen get some playing time, because you never know what can happen when making a run for the Walnut and Bronze.

Good luck to all of the NJAC teams for this upcoming week, for finishing out the regular season healthy and prosperous (except WPU), they just get the healthy part.

Dr. GSC,

Not for nothing, but you started this little quarrel and now it seems as if you have to have the last word.  Every fan is different, and if you personally don't like my rantings about the Prof team, I could care less.  True fans can look at their team objectively, and speak honestly, without fearing on stepping on one's toes.

I speak my mind and if you want to call me an armchair qb or wanta be coach that's fine.  I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.  If only past Rowan fb players can be fans, then I guess I'm out of the club.  But believe me, and this is coming from someone that has never lifted weights in Acorsi's office, I can predict about 80% of the time, what play our OC is going to call, and I'm not the expert like you.  Imagine what experts can do?

Dr. GSC,

I was not one the to nick your karma, as I am not one to even worry about that, howver I have seen my karma deminish today as well, so I guess I owe that honor to you and maxpower.

As a fan, I thought that you were allowed to analyze your team and do "armchair QBing and coaching"?  I guess when I finish my doctorate, I will be able to be as PC as you.

In respect to feeling the pressure, I did not play at the collegiate level, however I did play in High School, I know there is a difference, however I would love to show you where to stick your #2.  You talk a very good game and your pride for the Prof team is admirable, but I have just simply stated the obivous in my posts this season.  I think that possibly you didn't play with your helmet on at GSC, if you can't see what type of problems we've had.  I too, have been following the Prof's for 20 plus years, and to not realize that there have been either coaching deficiencies or lack of recruiting efforts, which have been completely apparent this year.  The defense looked awesome all year and last week I thought that they looked average at best, and special teams and the offense have looked terrible all year.  Spite my Karma if you wish again, but this is FACT.  I don't think you need binoculars and a clip board to notice this.

As for your "I have witnessed struggles on offense and defense during regular season, post-season and Stagg Bowl appearances. But regardless, I'll continue to support this program and what it is they strive for"... What do they strive for... to get out coached and out played and lose to MSU, and squeak by the NJAC all season, then face C-state this SATURDAY for their last shot at a respectable season, Rowan wise.  This program does not strive for a NJAC championship, we've had that numerous times over the past 20 years... What we strive for is the Walnut and Bronze.  Maybe you forgot about that all season long when you repeatedly said that the offense would finally "click" and we would be okay.  How has that worked out for you?  We haven't been okay, and we're still not okay.  If you consistently do what you've done, you're going to get what you've had.  We are now possibly looking at a two more game season, because it is people like you, that didn't think anything was wrong from day one, and that everything was going to be okay.  I knew after the Robert Morris and West Conn. game that this ship was headed to the proverbial iceberg, and guess what we've found it.

Now we have one last shot this week, and if it was up to you, and your PC'ness and cowarding prowess to ever saying anything negative, or you might lose your status of a GSC football god that lifted weight's in Acorsi's office, we would run the same offensive plays and then lose to C-State, but we would shake hands and walk off the field proud, because we are Rowan.

THAT is bull$hit.  That is not what ROWAN FOOTBALL is about.  We are supposed to be dominate and kicka$$.  I'm tired of everyone sugar coating this season and making excuses.  NO MORE EXCUSES go out and play old school Rowan football.

Where is Rowan LB when I need him???

Dr. X-GSC,

You must have really earned that designation as a doctor to hang on a day.  I'm sure that you got the jist of my last post, and in respect to your nice little dig about keeping quiet.  If you don't like my opinions or views for this seasons Prof's, you can simply choose not to read them.  I am truely disgusted with this years team, however the reason is not a selfish one, as I feel bad for the players.  They have a tremendous amount of pressure to play at a top caliber, and it seems that the play calling has been suspect at best, and not putting our athletes in the position to win.  However, that is my opinion.  I know your view is a very PC one and that everything is okay in Prof land.  Another question I have about the special teams is the extra points and field goals, or lack there of.  I have no idea how we can be that bad at that facet of the game.  I don't care if the MSU qb fumbled or not, the game shouldn't have been that close.  But hats off to MSU, they figured a way to win, just like the Prof teams of old.  Last week it looked like we figured a way to lose.

Maxpower,

Great screen name by the way, I guess Hulk Hogan and Superman were already taken.  Until Cortland beats RU in the boro', they haven't  proven anything in my eyes.  Although this years team has had a tough time of it, you still have to come to the boro' on Saturday (THANKS GSC) and prove you're better.  I'm not one for kissing and hugging and skirting the issues.  If Cortland wins, they're better, and vice versa.  I believe that the Seniors on this team will step up and get the job done.  It's now or never.

GO PROF's!!!

Have kept pretty quiet this week, but only one word can describe last weeks game verse MSU...DISGUSTING!!!

The season comes down to Friday, and championship caliber teams, regardless if they hit a few bumps in the road have to step up to the challenge.  It is terrible for the seniors, that this year will be remembered the way they will, however destiny is calling for them at this point.

It has been a long time since the Prof's have had to compete for the NJAC, on their home turf as under-dogs.  We'll see Saturday if the Prof's are pretenders, or contenders.

The one positive thing for the Prof's last week was they finally completed a few passes that were longer than 2 yards, but their running game was largely uneffective.  The young WR's are still dropping a lot of balls.

If we can continue to throw the ball effectively, we might have a chance, otherwise Prof fans can get ready for Basketball season!

GOOD LUCK PROF'S... Step up and represent the 'boro!

JT,

First off, how about you spell your website correctly?  www.rownfootball.com???  I know that us GSC grads aren't that intelligent, but come on, help us out!  j/k

So, now I see that MSU is Rowan's rival... How about TSC/TCNJ and Cortland (recently).  The ultimate NJAC rivalry of the past two decades has been GSC/TSC, prior to that I would agree that it was MSU.  However, I guess when you have had the amount of success the Prof program has had over the past 20 years, it makes you everyone's rival.

I definitely have respect for the MSU program, but this year MSU will NOT compete with the Profs, with or without an offense.  I looked at the weather last night for Saturday and it looks like rain.  MSU has proven that they are not a great passing team in dry weather and they absolutely will not be able to run on the Prof "D".  This game will not be a high scoring game, but the Prof "D" pitches the goose egg, and the prof's score two TD's and miss both extra points.  Profs win 12-0.  My prediction also... less than 200 yards of total offense in the game for both teams combined.  Field position and defense wins this game in the rain for the Prof's.

The Cortland game the following Saturday, I am a little more worried about.  If the offense can't move the ball, this one could go the other way.  Our offense is also too predictable and it appears that the offense only runs about 6 different plays, and as a fan that never played college football, only high school, I can't believe that this Prof team can't muster up some different plays to mix it up.

1st down, inside handoff
2nd down, inside handoff
3rd down, option (if 3rd and short), 3rd and long qb rolls out and throws to flat/curl
4th and one, 5 wide, QB sneak

mix in qb under center, slot in motion, sweep... Then next play QB under center, slot motion, inside handoff.

Now I'm old and I'm not a scout, but I'm sure that MSU, Cortland and Willy P know this as well.  Our offense is like an old Seinfeld episode, we've all seen it before, and we know what's coming.

I will definitely be at the game this Saturday, weather permitting, and I bet if I had a dollar for every play I knew the Prof's we going to run prior to the snap on Saturday, I could take off of work next week and not get paid and still break even!

Rams,

Did you cut and paste one of the Rowan posts from two weeks ago???  Believe me, I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!!

Young cougar,

Wow that was very motivating.  I'm sure after that post, Kean will be rip roaring and reading to go.
#11
Sakeen.. WAY TO GO!!!  That is absolutely fantastic for him.  I was hoping that he would be picked up somewhere.  I hope that he does well.  I know that the Philadelphia Soul play Austin, so hopefully I will get the chance to see him play again.

For Cortland Fans:  I hate to hear that Smith is out for the year, I wish him a speedy recovery as it is never good to hear that any D3 player has to go through that surgery.  Does he have any eligibility left???  Hopefully he will be able to bounce back next year and play again at the same level.

Prof Fans:
A wet one today, however looks like it is going to be sunny and in the 60's for tomorrow's game.  Hopefully we'll be able to expliot Kean's lack of pass defense and finally get the Prof's offense bus rolling.  Still heavily counting on the defense to creat short fields for us, but the Prof's definitely pull this one out.  I'm not sure if I have ever even seen a Kean supporter post on this board???

MSU/Cortland game-  This could be a very interesting match-up with Smith out for the season.  I know that the back-up QB played well for Cortland last week, but lets see how he handles his first start.  I still think that Cortland edges this game out, but my prognasticating skills obivously leave much to be desired if you look at the NJAC pick'ems this year.

Good luck to all NJAC'ers this week for a great week in D3 football and I hope that everyone stays healthy!

First,

I would like to wish Smith a healthy and speedy recovery.  Regardless of what team you play for, I hate to see a kid get hurt.  So once again, I wish you the best with that.

Rams,

Yes, please for last week!  Not that I have a chance of winning, but it does ghet me thinking..

RU Fan,

I hate to disagree with a fellow Prof supporter, but I think this game is going to be close.  Kean is good against the run, and bad verse the pass.  Our offense has proven to be shaky at best in the air.   I think the "D" will shut down AJ for the most part, but I still think we give up one or two big plays, possibly one on special teams.  I still pick RU to win, but by less than 7.  I hope your prognasticating skills are better than mine!

GO PROFS!!!!

Rams,

I can't believe it either...  I believe this is a great week for NJAC football, and definietly a week that will effect the outcome and destiny for many teams.  Hopefully, the RU defense will contain Roque, and the Prof offense will put up some points.  I know that the Kean team has really come into their own in the last few years.  I'm sure that since the NJCU team folded, Willy P and Kean has more North Jersey talent to choose from from kids that want to stay local.  My predictions for this Saturday.  RU 24-Kean 16.  Rowan puts up 3 TD's and we have fouth and goal from the one inch line, and we kick a FG.  Kean scores a TD on an athletic play from AJ and scores a special teams TD, then the Prof defense gets a saftey from AJ trying to make too much happen with his scrambling.

I think that the Cortland/MSU game is going to be extremely close, possibly OT.  I'm sure that MSU is going to come out with a lot to prove, however Cortland triumphs in the end 31-28.

It appears that this weekend in NJ, weather will not play a factor as it is going to be in the 60's for game time.  Good luck to all, and we'll see where the chips lie in respect to the complexion of the NJAC late Saturday afternoon!!!

Hopefully Tosh will be good to go for the Kean game as he is absolutely an integral part of this team's Defense as well as a great leader.  We will need to have the senior leadership to carry this team along.

Lets right this ship and get ready for a playoff run.

GO PROFS!!!!!!!!!

Question for Prof fans,

I was listening to the game while doing some housework on Saturday and I didn't hear Tosh's name a lot, if I heard it at all.  I was replaying the game in my head and I was wondering if he was hurt, or we simply didn't need him, or possibly he just had a quiet game.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.
