What a great game in Wheaton yesterday!!  We had the visitor stands filled beyond capacity and we were loud and proud.

Two great teams battled for three hours that resulted in one of the best SJU playoff games I have ever witnessed and I have witnessed many.  Congrats to Wheaton for a great game.  Those players left it all on the field.

Now onto WW for a rematch of old foes.  Saturday can't come soon enough!

GO JOHNNIES!!!

This is football related but more of a personal story in my family.  My brother's only son, Scott, just completed his 14th and final radiation treatment yesterday.  A news station in Fargo / Moorhead produced a story about Scott's journey and the support he has received from his fellow teammates and classmates.  Here is the link: https://www.inforum.com/news/4808644-Moorhead-teen-surprised-by-outpouring-of-support-on-last-day-of-cancer-treatment#.XepQHGkM2_c.link

It is worth watching.

Come to 302 Wheaton!  We have a simple menu, awesome burgers and the largest tap list in downtown Wheaton.  Would love to host you guys before the game!

How did I find this post you might ask?  My wife and extended family all went to Wheaton and her uncle's the track coach there.  He found it...

Would you be willing to open at 10?

ROR - parking at the stadium is tight and the visitor stands are small so it has been suggested that we arrive early to the stadium.  Possibly 302Wheaton would be a better choice after the game.

The Johnnies did get a new kicker after the Concordia game.  He is a junior who played QB as a freshman and DB as a sophomore but did not go out this year.  The coaches must have known that he could kick, however, as he joined the team after the loss to Concordia and in his very first game he was 10 for 10 on PATs.

Jeff Norman, quarterback of SJU's 1976 national championship team, made the trek from MN out there.  Also, TDT (Max), Brice (Brad) and Chewey (Steve) will be at the game.  John Sipe and Ron Tomczik are also there.  I didn't think that DustySJU was going to make the trip but I could be mistaken.

As Oz stated, there will be a contingent of Johnnies / Bennies from SoCal there.  Jeff will be arriving with a former classmate of his that lives in Long Beach.

Wish I could have joined them but it wasn't in the cards for me this week.

Hats off to Aurora for a great game today. You have a great QB who used his elusiveness to make many big plays.  I can't remember such a high scoring game on both sides of the ball in Collegeville in my 45 years of watching the Johnnies.  Congrats for a great game.  You have much to look forward to and your fans were great, too!

The game today in Collegeville was awesome!  Congrats to an excellent team from Aurora.  They came to play and their QB is very good.  Good receivers, too, and well coached.  The Johnnies did just enough to pull it out in the end.  I have been going to games at SJU for 45 years and I can't recall such a high scoring game for both teams.  Aurora's fans were great!  Our season openers the next two years are going to be tough battles.  Thanks for a great game.

Now on to Chapman.  Go JOHNNIES!!!

Greetings Veek.
Playoff time stimulate you?
Me too, especially the 2nd round.

Hi D O.C..

It must be the playoffs that stimulated me but SJU has been in the playoffs for a number of years recently and I haven't posted.  Maybe this is SJU's year or maybe I am just happy that we found a kicker before the playoffs!

Veek, my man!  How's the new cooler?  ;D

We'll try to stop by, but getting to campus early seems to never happen, especially as games get colder.

Duff, this makes cooler #3 for me.  I have won two and my father gave me his when he won one.

Our canopy has walls that we install when it is cold.  Last week they made their inaugural debut!  We had to unzip the corners so a little air could flow through as they were acting like sails but they did the job.  Luckily, Dana had ratchet straps along so we were able to secure the corners of the canopy to two trucks.  Hopefully you can stop by and check it out.
The new canopy is a nice touch for the tailgate lot.  I especially like the championship years being off-center so more can be added.

Thanks, BoF.  The championship years being off-center was Larry Schultz's idea and I loved it!  I am hoping we can blend 2019 in so it isn't too obvious!  ;D

Veek: great to hear from you!
TDT says the TV is the accessory for the tent.
Maybe you will get to make a trip to Illinois again.

Hi Chris. TDT makes numerous requests.  Most go in one ear and out the other.  ;D

Hi Everyone!  It has been years since I last posted and I was actually surprised that I remembered my password!

I sure feel better about SJU's chances of making a run in the playoffs now that we have someone that can make PATs.  I have a feeling that we might look back on the Concordia loss and realize that it was a blessing in disguise.  Without that loss, we would still be missing 50 % of our PATs and doing so would be our demise in a tight game.

Duff, swing by our tailgate on Saturday if you have a chance.  My son is always in the dome playing football and your son would be more than welcome to join him and the others.  Our group is under the 10 x 20 canopy which is easy to spot!

Go Johnnies!!

Good evening fellas.  Ready for kickoff.

Has anyone seen Veek?  I'm hearing he has multiple September conflicts...

Headed to Chicago in the morning.  Hope to see my pal Ferris B. in the bleachers...

Thinking about a trip to see my pal BlueDevilBob on Thursday night.  What kinda tailgating shenanigans can I expect in Menomonie?  I'm good for cheering intently against the hated Bethel Royals.

Faunch:  What are you smoking on?  I got a Big Green Egg this summer and it's better than sex (jokes here fellas).  Maybe we should have a competition.  Brisket, ribs, pork shoulder, chickens...

Hey Benchwarmer:  it'd break my heart to see you guys lose to the WIAC.  Please win.  The pain and agony on Caruso's face about 4pm September 26th is all worth it.

Thanks much,

The Management

I don't recall telling you that I had numerous September conflicts.  I did state that I have a wedding this Saturday so I won't be able to attend the game but that is the only conflict I mentioned.

I'm looking forward to a great season!  Go JOHNNIES!!!

I am fired up for the game tomorrow with the exception of hearing that Fins has dropped the ball and his koolaid will be MIA.

The truck is loaded and I am ready to go.  I expect a great game and a win by the J's.

Looking forward to my first tailgate behind the pine curtain this season.

Go JOHNNIES!!!
