Wow, if that facility is half as impressive as it sounds, RPI is on to something.  Anyone feel that going this big could also mean the Engineers are considering a thought to jumping up to IAA in time??  Just a thought.

I don't know U89 but I heard it may seat in excess of 5,000. I don't know a lot, but I know a complex like that will help recruiting; even if you schedule the likes of high school teams each year to open your season.

I hope this stadium makes the student population want to go to the games, instead of alumni filling the stands for Union/Hobart and it being empty otherwise...

Dogg I have always wondered about RPI's attendance. Is it really that sparce for non U/Bart games? Looking at the plans, if I were a student, I would want to watch every single game in that place. At the least it should create a new buzz around campus this season. Have you heard anything about the Army transfer at QB? Sounds liek a big boy. Replacing Robertson is not going to be easy for the Hawks/Engineers/whatever the hell they are called ;D

Oh Jesus, (sorry to offend using the lord's nameth in Vain)

Here we go again.  LD11 is gonna have to boycott the LLPP again!!!

Dlip - If I were a ho-hum student, i would be interested in watching a good football team in a cool stadium as well.  Unfortunately, RPI students are more interested in role playing games, doom, and RPI love...

RPI Love

Maybe if they give away free pocket protectors, laptop adapters and dungeon and dragons dice more students would attend.

By the way any Capital District locals paying attention to the Niskayune Boys Lacrosse team? They are currently ranked 15th nationally, smoked Duxbury of MASS (who at the time was 13th in the nation) and even beat John Jay for the first time. They are simply nasty and have one of the best high school coaches of any sport in Mike Vorgang period. This team may be worth keeping an eye on if any are interested. Ranked 2nd in NYS class B they may just bring the first lax title to section 2 ever.

Funny, JU's high school coach (and Ithaca grad) Chris Sweet is the Duxbury coach and has built them into the best program MA has ever seen.  Although this year they had their first in-state regular season loss in like 7 years, they still produce tons of college players.  Max Quizaini of Duke is a Duxbury grad.

It looks like the Long Island teams have taken over the Syracuse teams as the best in the State.

It's interesting how the Island and Western NY seem to go back and forth regarding NYS Lax superiority. When I played in the Empires in 94 we (adirondack) got freaking smoked by the Island 21-1 and I think Western actually beat the Island for the gold. The freakin lax in those two areas of the state is at such a high level every year. I do believe though that upstate is making some serious gains compared to the past. Again in 94' (Nisky's first team on hte varsity level) we won section 2 and played Yorktown in the regionals. We couldn't even compete. Now you have got Nisky ranked 2 class B and 15th nationally that may give upstate it's first state title ever.
