Now Mount Union will never lose the OAC!!!
Was there a time when they didn't?

2016... Believe me, this is not a "look at me, we won the OAC one time since this century"... I'm just "glad" that one time it was not you, was us. lol

Onward on, John Carroll

Amen . . . . such a solid program since Coach DeCarlo resurrected us from mediocrity, and, yet, only two OAC titles.  Astonishing . . .and depressing.

tough year for Mount athletics.  Football and basketball programs go from the national title game to a 2nd round exit and missing the tournament all together, with senior laden, star-studded teams, both due to losing to far inferior opponents.  Things might have gotten a little too comfortable in Alliance

I hope you are referring to the two losses to Wilmington and not JCU. :D

of course.  I'm referring to the covid-classes at Mount thinking that they have actually won something due to the name on the front of their jerseys and what was accomplished in the past.

Will be interested to see how this shakes out because the Heartland will only have seven teams in 2025 and will need four non-conference contests. I assume some may schedule two OAC teams.
Personally, I would like to see the two Mounts match up.

Mount was scheduled to play JCU in week 3 in '25, with a bye in week 2.  I would assume Mount will be taking on whichever HCAC team has a vacancy in week 2 or 3.

I suppose eliminating the John Carroll game (for all) would be the easiest solution for the OAC in '25.

I have heard unsubstantiated rumors of Mount and Grove City meeting up in '25.  How likely that is with a 9 team conference and an 11 team conference? I'm not sure.  I hope that Mount only agreed to this OAC-HCAC thing with the promise of being paired with SOS-cow MSJ.

I'm not sure Mount Union who has been wasting everybody's time with games against Defiance and Ferrum is in any position to dictate anything about non-conference scheduling.

In the interest of securing 10-game seasons in a reasonable geographical footprint, this is a good move for everybody involved, Mount Union included.

I can't argue that Ferrum is an exciting OOC opponent, but most of the Mount OOC deals are inked years and years in advance...Defiance was signed in 2018.  I know that it doesn't fit your narrative, but Mount doesn't typically schedule cupcakes in their lone non-conference game.  The list of non-conference opponents over the past 25+ years gets posted almost every year so I don't want to waste your time re-posting it

The PAC went no non-conference, I'm sure that the MIAA teams have been called and only seem to want to play lower tier OAC programs, the NCAC programs will cry about academics instead of scheduling Mount in a home-home.  A couple of HCAC programs have stepped in, but who exactly should Mount schedule in order to not waste the great wally_wabash's time?

Wouldn't a good solution be to have the HCAC and OAC merge into a 16 team league with two 8 team divisions (move Wilmington to HCAC division and have a couple of crossovers each year?
