Speaking of Amherst seems like a VERY small recruiting class they posted - only 17 guys.  Two guys who were at one point committed seem to have had a change of heart, including Brady Jung, who appears to be joining former HS teammate Jaden Richardson at USC (presumably as a walk-on), and a DB who switched to W&L.  Only one QB and one DB listed.

I've only seen 18 recruits for Williams as well so far, but the Ephs don't post recruits on social media and I assume there are likely a few more. Still, on average Williams and Amherst are simply not able to bring in these massive classes like Trinity, Wesleyan and some others do which is of course a huge disadvantage.  I wonder if admissions gives a bit more slack next year as at least Williams is losing a large (and hugely impactful) class with a slew of fifth year guys.

New roster limits are probably playing into this....

The new roster limits don't seem to stop schools like Trinity, which already are WAY over that old roster limit, from continuing to bring in massive classes.  It isn't exactly news that some NESCAC schools just have a dramatically different institutional commitment to football than others, starting with admissions. When you bring in even one class of 17 (or 18, as Williams did a few years back), without a massive next class to compensate, after injuries and, inevitably, a few guys leaving the program, you are pretty much certain to be very thin at some positions as that class ages.  Especially when you don't bring in any football transfers (Williams hasn't brought one in in maybe a decade?  Amherst does, but very, very few).

Looks like Colby has a new class of 17, and Bowdoin has 21.
I think the new roster limits are starting to make an impact. Remember that before Covid the recruiting sizes were around this number.

Pre covid averages were typically mid twenties. Trinity usually on the high side of that with some schools in low twenties. 17 is a low number by any standards. The all time record low was 13 at Bates during the Malik Hall tenure prior to his exodus.
26 at Bates this year with a potential transfer still in the wings.

Questions:

Trinity's QB hasn't started a game. How is that a top 3 position group? Didn't Hamilton just have the rookie of the year at that position?

Tufts returns a 2nd team WR and the top QB. (Need a guy to throw those guys the ball, right?) shouldn't they be in the top 3 for WR? And with Wood (and his QB) and Elkhoury transferring, what makes those groups any better than the rest of the league? Trinity has the best kid so I at least get that, even though he doesn't have a proven QB.

Why does Williams' OL deserve a spot on this list? Also is Fischetti returning/healthy? How do you justify them being on the top 3 list over Colby's kid or Hamilton's freshman RB?

Who IS Williams TE? I literally can't think of who you're referencing, which is a bad start. How can ANYONE on pass challenged Williams be considered a top player in a receiving position? Also, didn't Trinity graduate their TE?

Didn't Colby lose both of their starting LBs? How are they in the top 3 LB group?

Tufts was the best pass defense and brings back an all conference corner, shouldn't they be ranked higher? Particularly over the sieve that is the Wesleyan pass defense.

Didn't Trinity also graduate their kicker?
