A little bit of schedule news for today. WIAC conference play for next season will begin January 4th. There will be a bye for everyone February 1 after the 8 game mark. Last conference regular season game is February 22 of course with the Tournament beginning February 24.

Actually, I do need to retract my report about Saturday doubleheaders. Looks they'll stick with single games and new Sonnentag Center will be made available every Saturday.

Also, appears Oshkosh holiday Tournament has moved to Kolf this upcoming season after being at the Arena. So much uncertainty and/or high cost at the Arena probably with it being up for sale. Looks like traditional high school wresting tournament will move up to December 27-28 and college basketball still December 29-30.

Good stuff, Paul. I always liked starting the conference schedule after the new year. Interesting everyone has a bye after the 8th game and not the 7th (halfway mark). I liked the Oshkosh Arena, just not paying $40 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Hopefully in the next month or two, schedules will start rolling in. I think Dernbach's newsletter said he'd disclose the schedule in June. I also remember, I think, that they will be hosting a tournament the weekend before Thanksgiving. That may pose a problem for me because that's the weekend of the Great Lakes Invite at Calvin. I'm also hoping the men's Pointer team continues to be part of the Sentry Classic, although it was a weird Thursday/Saturday schedule for them and they played 2 separate opponents rather than a 4-team tournament. The classic highlights the area high school teams, so I'm ok with just 2 separate games for the Pointers. Maybe the women can get in on the action too.

This ages me I remember him as a little kid running around when his Dad coached at Platteville.

Seems like UWSP is going to have a pretty big roster.

They had a big roster last year until 7 guys left the team.  If they have a big roster, they will schedule JV games.

Probably the least surprising announcement.

Going to try NCAA Division II Newman now.

Little bit easier pill to swallow for Oshkosh than Miron staying in conference.

6'4" Linn Mar(IA) G, Owen Havlik, has committed to the UWRF Falcons.  That is the 2nd commit for Coach Berkhof from Iowa in this recruiting cycle.

Interesting that UWSP will now have four players that played at SPASH on next season's roster. Carter Combs and Nick Fox come in as freshmen. James Jacobs transfers in from Concordia-St. Paul and has 3 years of eligibility remaining and Keith Hoffman comes in from Madison College/West Florida and has one year left. Combs was unanimous 1st team all conference, team MVP and best defensive player. He also led all of D1 with 7.4 assists per game. He was also invited to the WBCA D1 all-star game.

After 2 years, Point is off Calvin's schedule, probably sick of beating up on them.

Former Muskego/D2 Davenport 6'1" G, Luke Bara, is transferring to Whitewater.  Luke averaged 4 pts a game for Davenport last season and will have 2 years of eligibility left.

Former Waukesha South and D2 St Leo 6'2" G, Marshawn Robinson, will transfer to Platteville.

News from a few days ago is Chris MacMartin left Whitewater for Detroit.

So, Whitewater and Oshkosh still both looking for top assistants a little less than six months before first games.
