Huge pickup for Calvin's MBB. Parker Swartz, who will be a third-gen Knight, will transfer in after spending his freshman season at D2 Ohio Dominican. Coach Bill Sall heavily recruited Parker during his days at GR Northview. He's an athletic 6-7 and he'll arrive at the campus where his grandfather Ed Wiers was all All-MIAA basketball player in the late 1960s and early 1970s, as was his mother Stephanie Wiers in the mid-1990s on the Calvin women's squad. Parker will be a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.

Cool Story:

I was walking out of Van Noord ahead of Parker and his dad on a recruiting trip last season so overheard their post game thoughts.  Parker was pretty quiet but dad was putting the full court press on about Calvin.  Parker had alot of D2 interest and also interest from West Michigan's small school big 3 of Hope, Calvin and Cornerstone

Good luck to Parker, good player a really nice pickup for Calvin basketball.

FYI, younger brother Brady is a basketball stud as well.

First MIAA schedule posted for 24-25 season by Kalamazoo (seems to be a game short in the non-con):

Calvin's '24-'25 schedule is now posted as well: https://calvinknights.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/2024-25

I'm led to believe the schedule for the Sikma Invitational at IWU is not yet finalized so it remains to be seen which two of Cal Lu, UW-Platteville and Illinois Wesleyan will see opening weekend.

The Knights will once again face a dense conference stretch with at Hope, at Trine and vs. Hope within an 11 day window from late Jan. to Feb. 1.  ::)

Greek Tragedy

So their trips to Wisconsin, are they saving an hour of driving and taking the ferry to Oshkosh and La Crosse? Are they actually going to travel to Oshkosh for Thursday's game, return home and then travel to La Crosse for Saturday's game? That's a lot of time on a bus.

Happened to go visit https://miaa.org/ and there is obviously some updating going on to the site (long overdue).  Looks like a work in progress as the Media links on the MBB page has the 2018 All MIAA team.

Poking around a bit more, I found the MIAA Sports Network:  https://www.miaasportsnetwork.com/

Made me nervous at first thinking the league was taking over streaming athletics, but it appears to be a "one-stop shop" for all streaming, which is still done/managed by each school.

Trine's 2024-25 MBB schedule has been announced on their Twitter account:

Non-conference schedule:

H 11/8 - Mary Hardin Baylor
H 11/9 - Wabash
A 11/15 - Baldwin Wallace
H 11/21 - Anderson
H 11/23 - Elmhurst
A 11/30 - Ohio Wesleyan
A 12/1 - Capital
A 12/7 - UW-Stevens Point
A 12/16 - Franklin
H 12/29 - Illinois Tech (not 100% sure as teams are listed by logo only)
H 12/30 - Manchester

MIAA conference schedule - as uneven as ever!!  First 6 of 8 games at home, next 5 of 6 games on the road.  10 day turnarounds against both Adrian and Hope.  They must use a dart board or something to devise the conference schedules.  Sheesh!

Yeah, it appears the MIAA schedule makers simply used last year's schedule and flipped the home/away part.  I guess cause last years schedule was so good?  Hope again has a 5 game stretch from Jan 22- Feb 5) of Calvin, @Trine, @Albion, @ Calvin, Trine  ???  ::)

https://www.olivetcomets.com/sports/mbkb/2024-25/schedule

Pretty tough schedule for the 8 known games with 3 TBD - @Elmhurst on a Wed and Dubuque (@Wheaton Pfund Classic) the following Friday.  Only 1 home game out of the 11 at Home for the Comets!!  They also have 2 exhibitions @ NW Ohio (NAIA) and @ Findlay (DII)

While the Olivet schedule shows the games at the Loras event as TBD Nov. 8 and 9, the Loras schedule page shows:
Olivet vs. Simpson - Nov. 9
Olivet at Loras - Nov. 10

I'd mark Olivet down as the underdog in both of these to add to what already looks like a difficult schedule for them. Not what the rest of their conference-mates would like to see for their SOS under the previous ranking/selection system but maybe less of a concern with NPI.

Greek Tragedy

1 home game in the non conference schedule? That's insane. There's four tournaments in there, so it's not like you're getting those as home games next season. That's a crazy schedule.
