I too was bummed when he left, I liked how competitive he was. He is a good man. Another solid guy is Coach Owens at Chapman in a different somber way. It will be a sad day for the league when he retires too. Maynard, Mac and Owens made the league special in different ways.

Preseason Polls look very accurate for the SCIAC this season. I wonder what Maynard thinks about Redlands being ranked so low... A lot has changed since the Maynard and Mac days.

yep, the face of the SCIAC has definitely changed over the years. The SCIAC is always fun to watch and this year will be no different. I'm excited for the season to start! Olddog, what's the word from Redlands camp this summer? I expect the Bulldogs to be ready from the get go.

He probably doesn't give a **** with how he was shown the door after 30 years of dedicated service. Coach Good has cratered the program in less than 4 years. Redlands is a shell of their former selves.

The pre-season rankings seem about right based on what I see, but Redlands can surprise.

Has anyone seen the field over at Pomona yet? Rumor has it, they finally got turf. Can anyone confirm?

I heard the same thing, it'll be nice but they'll lose their advantage of knowing how to play on  a ****** field.

Yes, new turf down at Pomona along with a new video board.  I'm sorry to see Team Natural Grass shrink by one, but the surface looks great at Merritt Field.

Always great to see a program improving field conditions. Claremont and Redlands are the last two SCIAC programs with grass. I would have to give the upper hand to Claremont though in terms of better playing surface. I can't stand looking at that spray painted grass at Redlands.

1) UR's grass better than CM...been on both fields, players like UR better in the league...its not even close
2) In regards to UR picked tie for 3rd, they deserve that ranking given last year lack of performance, however starting QB is back from his broken leg, appears to have hit the weight room and looking really good (hope he stays healthy). UR might be as athletic as anyone in the league, so lets see if that translates...UR is the sleeper this year and as usual it will come down to line play, feeling good about the defense despite the loss of a couple studs...but the O line has to come thru, UR has some studs at the skill spots...

Have you played on both surfaces, or is your opinion just what your eyes tell you? I have played on both and it's no contest that Redlands has the better playing surface. Redlands has one of the best grass fields in all divisions of college football, and opposing teams back that opinion up as they love it just as much as Redlands.

It'll be good to see Tremain back out there. He's an all around good/dynamic football player.

UR has their camps and the college coaches that have not seen their field rave about it...Plus as a coach and player it is way cooler than even cool turf, on hot days could be 20 degree delta...UR has water rights so that expense is not an issue and one of the reasons UR keeps such nice fields.

The Runner is a tremendous venue.  One of my favorites that I've been to in the division.  Very few things are as picturesque as a sunset kickoff in the early fall at Redlands.
