Does anyone happen to have any details regarding how the Case/Carroll scrimmage went?

Quote from: DagarmanSpartan on September 04, 2024, 09:55:41 AMI just listened to Coach Debs' preview on YouTube.

Apparently, Jace Merritt, who was a first team All-PAC Center last season, is now the starting nose tackle as a fifth year.

Wow!

I wonder who is moving to Center.

I really wish they would publish a depth chart.

I pointed out Merritt's return and position shift back in June when 2024 roster was published. The preview posted on the team website on August 9 mentioned the possibility of starting RG Thivener moving to center with the D2 transfer Miller taking his spot.

Your wish granted. https://athletics.case.edu/documents/2024/9/4/fb_WAY_game_notes24.pdf

Thanks!  I just saw the game notes.

Thivener is indeed listed at Center and Kelly at Guard.

We seem to have a lot of starters and impact players returning.

This team could surprise some folks!

The chasm between the haves and have-nots was evident today.

No real surprise IMO. I think we kinda knew this league has four or five good teams that should all be fairly competitive with one another and then a large dropoff to everyone else.

CMU did look terrific, but it's hard to say how much is CMU really being that good vs. Thiel really just scuffling. It was 58-0 by halftime and CMU only needed 216 yards of offense with no drive longer than 52 yards and several one-play touchdown "drives" that were less than 10 yards after turnovers. CMU did what you're supposed against a lackluster opponent and just buried them, but it's a shame to see Thiel looking *that* uncompetitive.

Same thing here.

CWRU APPEARED to be very good, but I have no way to know whether that was because of the quality of our team, or the weakness of the opponent.

This year, our first six games will be against the "have nots," and the last four are against the "haves."

It could all come down to Week 11.

Must admit I'm confused. Why travel more against most teams you have no tradition with?

Stronger competition. CMU is used to travel in UAA. Hiram further weakens PAC football.

I hope that CWRU will be welcomed back into the NCAC. They are already scheduled to play Wabash in 2025 and 2026. Or follow CMU.
