in today's world of 24+ year old seniors, JCU starting two SO and one FR in the defensive backfield is an eye-opener.

Let's hope the Raiders exploit the JCU secondary on Saturday! ;D

Yeah that feels right to me. I truly think UMU offenses have been playing with one hand tied behind their back ever since they went away from a using the QB in the running game with regularity. I'm excited to see Beaudrie and co slice and dice a defense that gave up 7+ yards a rush against UWW.

I'm also always overconfident against JCU because they were always lucky to break .500 on their win percentage when I was at Mount.

that's when I was at JCU..... those were some dark days. Nothing worse than my freshman year when we lost to both Musky and Wilmington  :o

The 2024 season seems like a tipping point for Mount Union football.  Are they the same old Mount? or are they now a program that is happy with quarterfinal appearances?  The biggest game of this important season is JCU.  Now, JCU doesn't seem to be that top 5-10 peak JCU team this year, but it's still the game (until undefeated 'Etta later).

Are the Raiders going to be the same team that tip-toes through the first quarter/half and then builds a comfy lead in the 4th? or are they going to be the machine that dominates a top 25ish type opponent from start to finish?

You can preach "the standard is the standard" and each week's opponent is the most important.  But we have not seen that in the past four years.  It's far past time to walk the talk

Having a "black-out" is great, but showing up like championship team should is more important than thinking that you are winning simply because of the "Raiders" on your chest

If anyone is settling in for a long day of watching football there are some interesting D3 games that don't kick at 1:30pm:

12pm:  #2 Cortland at #11 Susquehanna.  I will definitely have this one on my laptop.
2pm:  UMHB at #3 UWW.  Not sure what to make of UMHB this year so my curiosity may get this one turned on.
7pm:  #5 UW-Lax at #2 Grand Valley St (DII).  GVSU should win obviously, but just an interesting game IMO.
7pm:  ONU at Berg.  If you're really an OAC addict and just need a couple more hours from Tiffin.

Not watching Mount vs JCU at 1:30?

Oh no, Mount will be in their rightful place on my main TV.  I was just suggesting some secondary screen options before/after Mount's kickoff time if anyone was looking for other D3 games of interest.  For example, at noon I'll have OSU on the main screen and the Cortland game on a secondary one.

WRMUalum13

AWESOME FIRST DRIVE, seeing Beadrie run that zone read option reminded me so much of the great Burke, Scott, Fulford offenses of the past!

WRMUalum13

On the flip side our pass rush could really use some work

BergAlum2

JCU starting a lot stronger than I thought they would  ;D

Dr. Acula

Pass rush could use some work.  Tackling could use some work.  Not having 12 guys on the field on 4th and 4 could use some work.

The d-line isn't getting pressure and the DBs are getting smoked, reminds me of how they looked against Alma last year

Dr. Acula

I don't pay close enough attention to the analytics stuff.  What's the reason to go for 2 this early?
