Good article on U of R.  Whatever happens the next 6 weeks the Yellowjackets are heading in the right direction after years of struggling.  As the toughest academic school in the LL they hope to contend with JHU, CMU and the NEASCAC's for the high academic student-athletes.

No final word on the QB starter for Saturday vs. RPI.  Rose would be preferable but Wise definitely has potential.

Glad to see this. Rochester and Hopkins were the other two places I applied besides CMU, and Rochester was the only other one I took an actual "recruiting visit" to. We played up there my senior year (2007) and I've always followed along with their program. Funny to think how different your life can look if you'd gone a different way at that fork in the road.

Hoping to see the Jackets stay in the mix all the way to season's end this year.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Big week! Start of the LL season:

RPI romps, will win by 20+ 35-14

Union finds a passing game 24-14

Buff St is playing a D1 School for their homecoming?  For real???? Are they getting paid for this?

It has been so long since Hobart has won a "big" game, everything points in their favor, downish year for IC, ramping up on offense, strong defense, home field advantge, I will be rooting hard for the Pumpkins....still IC always finds a way...24-13 IC

Good morning and wishing all the teams and players great injury free games.

I feel this is a big game for Union in many ways. Not league wise, as I don't believe they will compete for the LL title this season. I'm hoping today's game will just seem a bit slower for the line and Patch. I'm hoping Union tries to run the ball a bit more today, while still heaving it as well. I really believe that Drach (being the former D1 QB and offensive coach he is) is trying to groom Patch with a trial by fire approach. Maybe today Patch will have a bit more consistency and success to help both his, and the offenses confidence.

I think SLU will play tough at home and this game will be close. I'm just hoping for the best here for Union and this proves to be a game, win or lose, that puts a brick in the foundation of the future for Coach Drach and his team.

A Beautiful day for football in Geneva today to start the Liberty League schedule against the Bombers of Ithaca. Hobart's Team #130 will be taking their post meal walk past the President's House by Lake Seneca, to the Chapel and through campus to Boswell Field past family, friends and fans. They will dress in the seasonal ALL Pumpkin Orange uniforms and blind the Bombers with a flash of orange all game. Hopefully they will earn the right to sing at games end.."Raise the orange and purple high, let us same them never, shout the triumph to the sky, Hip Hobart Forever". Go Bart!

There are times where I wish Liberty League member Vassar College had a football program! Would have given me a great opportunity to see the other NY teams up close when they passed through! The D1 deadbeats at Marist College up the road do not provide an adequate fix for live college football!

Rochester up 14-0 at half.  Ryan Rose started and is playing great.  TD's caught by Tre Johnson and Nick Wamp.

Union and St. Lawrence tied at 10 at the half. I thought the Union secondary would be a strength as they returned everybody but coverage breakdowns are costing them. Offensively, Patch Flanigan...the good,an 87 yard TD run on a QB draw and the bad, constantly still overthrowing receivers. Union backup kicker missed a 32 yard FG attempt just as the half ended. Far from their best game so far.

The Liberty League goes through Rochester, just like we all saw

Union and SLU tied at 10 at the half. I'm really enjoying a nice Saturday afternoon game after a very busy week.

I'm impressed with some of what I see from SLU. They are playing hard and have made a couple nice pass plays on offense.

Union has also made a couple of nice plays on offense. Patch with a very explosive 88 yard TD scamper. Fiore also had a decent run at one point. The Oline has had a couple moments.

Trying to figure out Patch Flanagan. Like previously stated he had a very nice TD run and maybe one or two other decent runs. He's had a couple decent completions as well. Yet he has missed at least three wide open receivers. A fist quarter miss on a would be TD to Robbie Tolbert was especially frustrating. Hey, kid is doing his best and I appreciate that. I'm just feeling the inconsistency does really hurt Union's ability to put points on the board. That's the bottom line. Let's see how the second half goes.

Credit to both teams on a hard fought first half.

This Ithaca/Hobart game is one of the saddest LL games I have ever seen I think.  The Hobart punter may get the LL player of the week.

Ithaca has a QB problem for the first time in a long time.  Hopefully the coaches can figure something out with that situation because it isn't good.

Statesmen for the win.  Two goal line stops at the one, 86 yard punt, back up QB brings the team home in the second half.  Good stuff for the Hobart faithful
