Lot of passing on first downs from Bowdoin and Williams in this first half. Not sure why

DKOY PRICE!!!

What a schematic nightmare for opposing OCs. Kid is otherworldly talented.

Bowdoin defense responds well to some initial adversity. Offense needs to string some first downs together.

Finish it out. GoUBears.

Hmmm I thought I posted some thoughts but now don't see them.

Koy Price among others on Bowdoin but especially him has been great but at the same time the entire Williams o-line has been MURDERING the Ephs today.  So many miscues: lots of bad snaps, missed assignments, total whiffs on blocks, a false start, a holding penalty, they just aren't giving McHugh (who's not had his best day but what QB can play well when getting murdered out there like that) a chance.  The coaches did not seem to have a great game plan because this is what Bowdoin always does defensively, but also the execution has been awful.  In the second half the Ephs need to get another blocker to help out more, is O'Connell playing at H-back I haven't noticed him if so?  But also then need more quick-hitting rhythm plays to their possession receivers Johansen and Kennedy in the passing game, and only four offensive touches for Fischetti is criminal.

The Eph defense has been great with lots of the underclassmen making big plays to keep the game even.

Well, the Bowdoin fans predicting a shutout were off by only 34 points.

Quite a difference a half makes as the Ephs blew Bowdoin off the field.  The Ephs blocking schemes and execution were night and day after halftime, and they've been playing MUCH faster on offense, and the problem for the Bowdoin D is once you can get past that first wave of defenders, skilled guys can absolutely torch those aggressive schemes for huge plays.  As rough a first half as McHugh had (again, mostly not his fault) he was perfect in the second half, spreading the ball around with precision accuracy.

Big days for Williams for Cam Lee (using his speed for two TDs), Fischetti (making the most of his eight carries for 177 (!) yards and two TDs), Holden Gehring (a lot of tight coverage on Bowdoin's star receiver Hoggard - who did win a few of the battles, he's very good; two interceptions; and a third INT that was nullified by penalty).  The Eph defense has been stellar the entire game, especially impressive were Scala and Gale on the DL, playing in place of injured players and clogging up the middle of the Bowdoin offense all game long with their size and strength advantage. The latest underclassman addition to the defensive group is converted TB Luke Thornbahn, who acquitted himself really well in his first game as a starting CB in place of some injured guys.  Also flashing was FY DL Ben Yedid, who earned a sack with a beautiful spin move.

The Ephs continue to play a LOAD of young guys on defense in general, in part due to a mounting toll of injuries to the starting group, which is starting to become a real concern.  Landolfi, McGrail, Cotton, and Osayimwen were I think all scratches today, and star DE Cam Smith left the game with an injury.  That's five game-one defensive starters!  Hopefully some return soon.

At times there were I think four maybe five FYs together on the defensive side of the field, and the majority of the defensive snaps came from underclassmen.  Certainly didn't show any nerves today vs. Bowdoin, but the Bowdoin QBs lack of precision also didn't help the PBears' woeful offense.  On offense for Williams, kudos to big FY Jimmy Montesano, who seems to be a red-zone specialist, who had an incredibly difficult grab for his first career TD.

To be fair, at the time of that comment Price did have a huge (and opportunistic) first half. He also forced a fumble by chasing down McHugh from behind. But he like the rest of the Bowdoin defense was MIA in the second half.  And as great as he is, DPOTY is a hard sell coming from the statistically worst D in the league, when there are so many really good candidates this year from much better defensive teams (Young, Kenary, Richardson, Harmon ....). Bowdoin had multiple guys with eye-popping defensive stats but part of that is stylistic - a true boom or bust defensive approach.

As for OPOTY, it would take something crazy for Zebrowski not to be that dude with his otherworldly stat line through four games.  Yeah, having that loaded receiving core makes it easier but man, he's outperforming even Fetter's level through four games.  He's a tougher guy to defend because he has wheels in addition to putting the ball right on the money.

Young is the most overrated player in league. Price is far and away better.

Bring back the "Smite" option.

I was at the Tufts-Trinity game yesterday. Zebrowski was a threat, and the WR options that Trinity has makes it really tough to defend them. You have to drop 6-7 in coverage on most plays, and the offensive line is great in pass pro, and then Zebrowski can just take off if he can't find someone. Tufts passed it well for most of the game, but the extended drives in the second half by the Bantams kind of wore down the defensive unit of Tufts. Good game, closer than the final score, but fair play to Trinity. Definitely the top team in the conference right now.

One thing though at the end, Tufts has a policy not to let fans on the field after games. Agree or disagree with this, it's the policy there. I saw Trinity fans literally pushing past security guards, snapping zip ties of gates, jumping fences, yelling at guards just doing their jobs...like, what is that about? If the school says stay off the field postgame, then why can't you just wait the 15 minutes until the postgame tailgate to see your son? I don't understand this. This has not been a problem with any other school I've seen in the league. What is the obsession with being on the field postgame to the point you're pushing security guards aside and jumping fences? It's not your school, do it where its allowed or at Trinity. Can anyone clue me in on what this is about?

Anyways, nice win for Trinity...seem like the team to beat once again. Also, so it doesn't seem that its sour grapes, I interacted with many Trinity fans pregame who were very kind and friendly to talk football with.

Some thoughts on NESCAC QB play to date.

First, on Zebrowski ...

Fetter's senior year he had truly remarkable QB stats:

32 TDs, 3 INTs, 285 ypg, 14 ypp, 63 percent completion, 171 QB efficiency, although his running stats were poor, -7 net yards total and 0 TDs.

But through four games (with roughly the same set of skill position players), Zebrowski has been roughly equal, arguably better, as a passer (albeit with a different style of play, shorter, lower-risk passes) and significantly better as a runner:

10 TDs, 0 ints, 290 ypg, 12.3 ypp, 79 (!!!) percent completion, an otherworldly 189 QB efficiency, plus 102 net yards on the grounds with 2 rushing TDs.  After a slowish start over the first few weeks, Trinity is looking like the same type of offense as last year that can really pour it on in bunches and put up 40 with ease.

Speaking of impressive QB play, the growth of Owen McHugh as a QB from his first year to his second has been incredible.  The Ephs have a much more talented group of skill guys this year to help him out - Stahelski who has a ton of talent has made major strides and Johansen, Bobo, and Kennedy have been strong additions to the unit, with Montesano another guy to watch for now.  But that is balanced out a bit by, I'd say, worse overall offensive line play to start the season; other than the Hamilton game McHugh has been under a lot of pressure. Eleven sacks allowed over the last three games is just too many and it's not like these have been coverage sacks.

McHugh is obviously far more accurate as a passer this year and is also reading the field much better and spreading it around in the short, intermediate, and deep passing game, never focusing on just one or two targets.  His 9 TDs have gone to 6 different targets, and that's without a TB catching a TD yet, which is bound to happen. And he's completed at least two passes to 10 different players only four games into the season. He will still occasionally try to do a bit too much on his own with some risky decisions, but he's so talented that at times even that ends up with a good result.

McHugh this year: 9 TDs, 2 INTs, 213 ypg, 73 percent completion, 183 QB efficiency rating, plus another three TDs on the ground; he has also been a very effective runner on designed plays, although he's taken too many big losses which has hurt his net yardage.

McHugh last year: 12 TDs, 8 INTs, 141 ypg, 48 percent completion, 118 rating (plus two TDs on the ground).

McHugh and Zebrowski have been, far and away, the two most efficient QBs in the league this year.  Berlutti has been surprisingly (to some at least, some folks certainly were skeptical about how it would go this down his elite weapons) up and down, as have Candido, Drake and Moran. Those four have been the middle tier of NESCAC QBs to date. The rest of the league has really struggled with QB play.

Barring a health issue, Zebrowski seems likely to run away with OPOTY.  McHugh, Chase Wilson, Nolan O'Brien and Ryan Linskey are lurking but all are at this point far behind.

Trinity allows all its parents after every game to go on the field and listen to the HC comments and parents and family get a moment with the sons on the field for pictures. At the game all the parents were on the field and certain representatives from Tufts would not open certain gates for the parents to join their team on the field. I am sure parents would have obliged the security staff had none been allowed on the field. However when there are over 100 people on te field and you dont allow the other parents there I can see how this could have escalated. I think the representatives from Tufts over reacted and should have understood the situation. Who really cares. I think this is indicative of how some bad programs operate and other classy programs value parents and players.

But lets talk about the terrible conditions these NESCAC schools still mainatin for visiting teams. Two showers for 75 players cramped quarters. I mean this is ridiculous. All the tuition spent at these schools and they cant have better locker room conditions and showers for the players. A completely unsanitary environment for visiting teams. NESCAC should really look into this really gives the league a horrible image.

Listen Charlie, first of all, everything I said was facts. The reason there were fans on the field was because they broke gates zip tied and just came on the field, this is true. Just because some did the wrong thing, doesn't mean others should follow. I'm sorry, parents never need to be on the field. You making statements like who cares and overreacted is you trying to justify their actions. Secondly, you saying "bad programs" operate like this is insane. Breaking rules isn't classy, it's an wild sense of entitlement like because you won a football game you can do whatever you want. Trinity won, go back to your tailgates and wait for your kids there. The coach can come talk to yal there. Also, I've been in the visiting locker room, there are two showers with multiple shower heads, which accommodate 10–12 players at a time. It's not the worst.

Lastly, this wasn't an attack on this program or its players or its coaching staff, I respect Trinity and what they've built. I only was asking why the crowd comes on the field when I haven't ever seen other fan bases do this, so settle down.
