Quote from: sjusection105 on October 13, 2024, 04:26:00 PMAs an outsider looking in what's going on? I'm too lazy to look at all the rosters but just wondering if there have been a bunch of transfers making so many WIAC teams competitive? Are top talent recruits deciding they want to play right away so they're going to the upstart programs? Has there been coaching turnover causing the chaos?

Blugolds have a 2nd year coach and are playing a lot of 1st and 2nd year players. If the coaching staff can continue to recruit and develop these players I'm actually kind of hopeful for our future. I'm not saying we can start beating the top tier teams, but I'd be happy if we could at least get to be competitive with an occasional upset thrown in here and there. Though our results a week ago against UWRF shows we still have a ways to go.

With the established teams at the top of the conference, it's such a difficult mountain to climb. I know the new coach is bringing in better talent than the previous regime was able to pull in and with our new Sonnetag practice facility it should help pull in players who maybe would not have come to Eau Claire in prior years.

La Crosse has been unable to close the deal in two straight WIAC games, the opposite of last year. It will be interesting to see if they can keep their chins up. They head to Carson Park this week to play a young EC team.

Quote from: 02 Warhawk on October 12, 2024, 06:08:11 PMBecoming less and less shocked on these losses. The revenge tour on UWW continues.

UWP in the driver's seat to win conference. With any luck UWW will win out......not betting on it though. Need to lower expectations on Jace and gang. Would love to give Chryst a shot. Not sure Ceniti is him.

Curious if just 1 WIAC team will get in. We're just beating up on each other.

I was annoyed three years ago when UWW didn't recruit Moen (Stout QB) and now that he's getting a chance to see the field, I am even more annoyed.

We missed a huge opportunity when we replaced PeteyBananas with the OC from Stout...rather than someone new and fresh and with a real idea of how to call plays.

Either way, the WIAC parity is real, and it's going to be a crazy second half of the season.

I was impressed with UWEC in the Bethel game. Scheme-wise they were doing some nice things, really solid halftime adjustments. Coach Erickson is doing good work, and it sounds like the AD knows it's a 5-6 year rebuild. Play the young guys now, take your lumps, but have a really nice shot at year 3 and 4 being competitive.

I looked up the Sonnetag practice facility.  Very impressive.  I would think that would be an immense help with recruiting.  Do any other WIAC schools have anything comparable?

Quote from: MediaGuy on October 13, 2024, 06:18:04 AMQuick question from your friends in the ARC Media...what is the correct pronunciation

(we-ack) or (y-ack)

having gone back to watch all the crazy games in the WIAC these last 2 weeks, there doesn't seem to be a consensus among the TV presenters.

It's WHY-ACK.

WEE-ACK is the Wisconsin Teachers Union. (WEAC)
I think for this year it should be referred to as the WAKI.

I do not see it happening this year? What has happened to UWSP? They have not been competitive  in may years? I have moved out of staff and still follow the boards but this is a question that I have as well?

Watching the struggles of Stevens Point, lead by many former UWO assistants, reaffirms my belief of just how good of a coach/recruiter Pat Cerroni was while he was at UWO.  Not only has there been a drop off in talent and in turn success at UWO, but also a lack of success trying to get something going at Stevens Point.

Quote from: fredfalcon on October 12, 2024, 08:21:19 PMRF began to lose offensive effectiveness when Blaha signaled he wanted to be taken out after a 16 yard gain in second q. Fitzgerald, very good in earlier games, not so today. Third string qb, Wesolowski, starter at wideout, came in before half and provided the only offensive spark shown first half. He played rest of game. Falcons had 27 first downs or more, but could not score.Penalties stymied them often.

Wesolowski led in several offensive categories and was the standout offensive player for the Falcons.
Don't know extent of Blaha's injury or what kind of injury. He was limping slightly when hw came off field.

Several other unsportsmanlike penalties on Falcon players. Frustration? Probably, but not excusable. Falcon season not irretrievable but difficult after today. Pville will not escape a loss.Their run game is questionable, but Falcon D vs. run has been strong all season. Oshkosh looking stronger. League parity obvious.

Does Coach Walker have to sit out a game with two unsportsmanlike flags? Big games like that I get emotions are high. I hope he does not need to sit out the home game against Stout. Any word if Blaha will be back? That kid is a stud and fun to watch.

Blaha told me he is out for several games. May be recovered for playoffs if RF gets in. Is eligible for medical red shirt now and could choose to play next year

In a word "no."   That wasn't what happened Saturday.
