Quote from: Macon on October 13, 2024, 12:09:15 PMA good game for the Jackets, but I'll never know for sure as I seldom can watch live. Why can't  RMC leave the broadcast 'on demand' like every other college in the country?

Good question. Two of yesterday's football games are archived on the ODAC Sports Network -- BC vs Averett and H-SC vs W&L. Why not the other two?

I understand from some RMC X Football buddies that DJ James is a transfer in from BCS Norfolk State. I think that is what they told me- wherever or however he came to us he looked GREAT running for us Saturday!

I also see continued changes in the OL starters well.  With only 2 returning starters on offense,  seems like maybe the personnel is coming into focus.

If I could watch the game now I'd have more to contribute.

Interesting and correct. He is listed on the 2023 Norfolk State roster as a redshirt freshman. https://nsuspartans.com/sports/football/roster/d-j-james-iii/6318

I wasn't aware that he had played at all before Saturday, but he had nine carries for 40 yards against Berry. I suppose it's possible he didn't make the trips to Dickinson and Shenandoah since travel rosters are limited, which raises the question of why he didn't get any carries against Hobart. But the coaches know what they are doing and when players are ready. Hopefully he can continue to perform well the rest of the season.

Glad to see that RMC is away this week.  I'll be able to watch the game on Sunday.

Three late games today.  Got me thinking about which fields are lit.  I'm thinking HSC is the only field not lighted.  Am I right?

I had a whole summary post of today's games almost finished, then accidentally closed it out before posting. No gonna try to do it over.

RMC wins at Averett 49-10. A well balanced offense for the Jackets. Lots of guys with carries and catches.

Ferrum over H-SC at home 41-36. Probably a surprise to most people. Ferrum took the lead for the first time late in the 3rd quarter, built it to 18, then held off the Tigers.

Guilford appears to have given W&L a good game, losing 40-23. The Quakers dominate time of possession, but give up some quick scores to the Generals.

Shenandoah suffers its second 22-21 loss in ODAC play, this time at Bridgewater on an Eagles TD and 2 pt conversion with 23 seconds left.

Stats in the Guilford game look a little weird. W&L couldn't get off the field on 3rd or 4th down in the first half. Gave Guilford huge TOP and kept them in the game because W&L rarely had the ball. But whenever they had the ball, they rolled through Guilford like a hot knife through butter.

In the second half Guilford struggled more on 3rd and 4th and W&L pulled away. A late Guilford touchdown makes the game look a lot closer than it was.

Thanks to Averett, I was able to watch the game this morning.  Their commentators were very good and entertaining.  They were consistently complementary of the RMC team, especially the line play.

Solid game for RMC, especially like the RB platooning and young QBs playing, especially Justus.  The offense seems to be finding their footing.  Looking good against GC and AU, but BC will be a different team.  The BC game will determine the early leader for conference title.  Only WLU may have a say in that discussion, with only those three teams having a realistic chance for title.

GO JACKETS!!

The WLU, RMC and BC wins played out as I expected.  WLU and RMC with easy wins and BC in a tight one, as I expected.  However, the HSC game was a surprise, as I expected HSC to roll over Ferrum.  I'd be interested in someone commenting on that game if you attended or watched it.  The questions for HSC seems to be on the defensive side.

Glad you got to watch the game. Maybe our fellow poster rmc1982 can find out from his sources why the RMC home games are not archived.

I agree that the Averett announcers are good. They did make one error consistently, however, in mis-identifying RMC's running back Cameron Chatman as Mitchell Johnson. They were not paying attention to the uniform number.

I looked in on the H-SC/Ferrum game early on, but didn't watch enough to make any meaningful comments.

  The more things change, the more they stay the same.  ::)

New coach still working with mostly old coach players. I was impressed with H-SC last week. Big win over Centre, tough loss to W&L might have hurt the spirit. See if they rebound against Averett before hitting a tough back end.

An interesting lineup of ODAC games tomorrow:

Guilford @ Shenandoah -- perhaps the least competitive, SU should win easily;

Bridgewater @ RMC -- should be a close one as both teams beat Shenandoah by the same score (22-21), though RMC did it on the road while Bridgewater did it at home;

Averett @H-SC -- the Tigers should prevail if they can play defense as Averett has only scored two touchdowns and a field goal in its three conference games;

W&L @ Ferrum -- potentially another close one given their similar results vs H-SC on their home fields, though the Generals probably have the edge defensively.
