Frankly, no matter what the pollsters or the NCAA's NPI say, you've got to prove it on the field.  That's what's great about D3.
And i really hope this SJU teams doesn't  let these rankings go to their heads. Need to remember they're playing the team this week that knocked them out of playoffs contention last season. I expect a decidedly different result than last year in St Peter.

Quote from: faunch on October 19, 2024, 10:46:25 PMAlso only 35 penalty yards...and i believe no personal fouls.

According to the Carls broadcaster, several Johnnie PFs were missed.  ::)

What, you want an unbiased home broadcast? Good luck finding that...

That being said, I do look forward to the day that there is a new play-by-play guy for Carleton. I know he's been doing it a long time and he's a nice folksy guy, but I can't help but look around at some of the other MIAC broadcasts and feel that their announcers are able to keep up better. Also the production quality seems to have fallen off a bit, especially compared to St. Olaf and Gustavus

I didn't hear - or maybe just didn't pay attention - to the moaning about missed calls. But I did notice that he frequently missed the down and distance and placement of the ball. "Looks like he's just short of a first down - oh wait, he's cut it to 2nd and 11." That kind of stuff.

Agreed, that stuff happens all the time with him. Usually I just watch on mute, which is a pity.

Agreed.

Johnnies should roll easily over the Gusties. They have taken a turn for the worse this year for some reason.

I cannot fathom how they could possibly struggle to find motivation this week in preparation for Gustavus. I am hopeful that that sting of being left out of the postseason will carry them deep into the playoffs & make this a special season! Hopefully they realize they cannot look past anyone & that everyone is going to give them their best shot!

Any golfers here?  If so, this clip may provide some inspiration.  It's three or four time world long drive champion Kyle Berkshire on a 752 yard par 5.  He drives for 458 yards and then hits a 302 yard four-iron to six inches from the cup for an easy three.

Sigh.

NOT SO FAST Duff, Good drives are overrated. Good shots late are better than good shots early. Two of my many golf mantras.

I'd be happy to make the green in 6 or 7 shots

Quote from: GoldandBlueBU on October 21, 2024, 10:08:57 AMI kinda like the Cobbers guy.  Sounds like some nice older dude around my dad's age calling the game.

You're probably right... he's Larry Knutson, 68, and he's been calling the games for 38 years up in Moorhead. Old school charm.

Will be interesting to see which Gustie QB starts. The 5th year returning starter left in middle of Bethel game, didn't travel with team to Scholastica the following week, and hasn't seen time since.

They lost their OC and it shows.

That's my game. My middle son is into it, so I'm doing it with him, which I enjoy. But I only golf in a group of adults if it's a scramble. On a good hole I might get a bogie, the next hole might be an 8. It's maddening.
