Greek Tragedy

Tough to see players leave after just a year or two, especially after all the time and resources you put in to recruit them. However, if they feel better players are coming in and they feel they get a better opportunity elsewhere, more power to them. I wish them luck. At the same time, maybe Point will be even better with new, and presumably better, players coming in to replace them. Always looking forward to the upcoming season.

Stout's roster is up, but no freshmen listed. Only 9 players listed. Not sure if this was already posted.

Stevens Point goes to Michigan Tech this weekend for a scrimmage while Oshkosh goes to Northern Michigan.

As noted before. Point got votes in the preseason poll recently released. I was wondering when the last time they got votes was. It's gotta be at least 5 years.

Last time ranked was 19-20.  I suspect that's the last time they received votes, but I'm not checking every week to find out.

Quote from: tomt4525 on October 21, 2024, 12:03:21 PMWisconsin Basketball Yearbook arrived this morning.  First thing I always do with it is check the returning players for UWSP, this year looks like another mass exodus happened and I don't envision a JV schedule because of it.

Myles Coleman entered the portal, I didn't see if he landed anywhere else.
Shane Tarjan
Parker Prahl
Josiah Gillie
James Sivley
Casey Verhagen
Jacksen Smith
AJ Uttech already transferred to Stout directly after the season concluded
Nick Fox is an incoming freshman but had to have knee surgery, he's out indefinitely.

Looking at the names, I'm pretty disappointed to see Casey Verhagen.  He had 3 years of eligibility left and I think he'll turn into a very good player as an upperclassmen.  He transferred to Concordia University Wisconsin.

There were some pictures posted online from the purple/gold game and I see that Wissports, at the very least, has incomplete information.  Shane Tarjan is back on the team as he was in one of the pictures.

Greek Tragedy

After your original post, I checked some of the player's Twitter accounts and Tarjan's profile was still littered with Pointer stuff. I thought maybe he was still at school, but just not playing. I didn't have any idea, so I didn't mention it.

The UWRF roster is up. Two freshmen from Iowa (Havlik & Postel), four transfers (Adams-Winona State, Wanguhu-Dakota County Tech, Ralph-UW-Platteville, & Ashburn-Bethany Lutheran), and two first team all conference returnees (Johnson & Leifker).  https://uwrfsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster

WIACer

WIAC BB season around the corner.  Is it a year that 2 or 3 teams get into the tournament. The conference was not as tough last year. WIAC teams lost a lot of non-conference games. Not typical and 8 wins got you second. However, this year I feel the league will be improved. Who is going to win the WIAC? I don't believe UWP can get through the season with 2 losses, but have to be the front runner, but some room for others. My initial thoughts for first second, then a jumble of mess.
