Quote from: tomt4525 on October 21, 2024, 12:03:21 PMWisconsin Basketball Yearbook arrived this morning.  First thing I always do with it is check the returning players for UWSP, this year looks like another mass exodus happened and I don't envision a JV schedule because of it.

Myles Coleman entered the portal, I didn't see if he landed anywhere else.
Shane Tarjan
Parker Prahl
Josiah Gillie
James Sivley
Casey Verhagen
Jacksen Smith
AJ Uttech already transferred to Stout directly after the season concluded
Nick Fox is an incoming freshman but had to have knee surgery, he's out indefinitely.

Looking at the names, I'm pretty disappointed to see Casey Verhagen.  He had 3 years of eligibility left and I think he'll turn into a very good player as an upperclassmen.  He transferred to Concordia University Wisconsin.

There were some pictures posted online from the purple/gold game and I see that Wissports, at the very least, has incomplete information.  Shane Tarjan is back on the team as he was in one of the pictures.
What did Wissports have posted?
I'm assuming he meant just the Yearbook piece he listed above and not Wissports specifically with Mark no longer being at Wissports.

Not that the Yearbook is bad, but the information has to be sent in way ahead of it actually reaching our front doors, so I would take what is listed for college with a grain of salt.

UW-Whitewater has posted an opening roster of 16.

JR Lukenbill is not returning.

Concluded basketball are Elijah Lambert and Drew Fisher.

Carter Cobin is actually going to NAIA Brescia.

Jay Dalton not joining.

Richie Warren 6'6 F from Racine Park is joining after some time at Ellsworth Community College and MATC. (A 2019 Park grad which is likely incorrectly listed as a freshman).

Quote from: y_jack_lok on June 08, 2024, 08:25:06 AMJust curious, given the number of college and university closings so far this decade (many of them D3 institutions), is UWO safe for the long haul? https://www.wbay.com/2024/06/07/uw-oshkosh-gets-loan-debt-plans-demolish-up-4-halls/?outputType=amp

What? UW System would close other campuses before UW-Oshkosh. It's practically an Ivy League calibre school.

I had high hopes for Lukenbill.  He had a lot of potential.  Disappointed he chose to quit playing.

I was at that 2018 game. UWO was so tough that year. Gave Bucky a run.

Final score 78-62, Badgers. RF very  competitive.  Bodes well for the season.

Crazy good performance from River Falls tonight. Zac Johnson was the star and showed all the tools.

River Falls now has the second most points scored in these games with 62.

However, 2018 Oshkosh records for closest margin, most points, and winning a half still stand.

Difference is Oshkosh kind of back doored into their records that game. River Falls front doored their outstanding performance tonight with a nice 13-5 run in the second half to pull within 2 on Parker's and one.

Thanks for details on Oshkosh, Paulding. Rebounding was one key disadvantage for RF. Crowl too much for Falcons to overcome.

WIAC Preseason Poll:

1. UWP
2. UWL
3. UWSP
4. UWRF
5. UWW
6. UWO
7. UWS
8. UWEC

I think it is Platteville's title to lose. Too experienced.

UWRF is the dark horse, their bigs may be the best in the conference and they have a potential POY/All American in Johnson.

For my 2 cents:
1. UWP
2. UWRF
3. UWSP
4. UWO
5. UWL
6. UWEC
7. UWW
8. UWS

WIAC posted it in X, but the link doesn't work. Went to the site and there's no story to the preseason poll.
