I've been trying to ride Union to the top of this picks challenge but... :(  2-1 last week, 31-7 on the season.

RPI 24 - Hobart 21...Does the 3:00 PM start indicate the Statesmen will probably drive east Saturday morning
to avoid an overnight cost? Could the long bus ride hurt them?

Rochester 20 - Buffalo St. 0...Yellowjackets don't score as much without Daniel. Bengals not at all.

Ithaca 27 - Union 13...Closer than some think (56 points? and I was about to bow down to you, come on man)

The buses left last night, if you want to change your prediction ;D

My quick feelings about today.  Union has some players, but QB play is so spotty that a strong defense lie IC will dominate.  35-7

Roch needs to hold it together for three more games, today is easy win 24-14

If RPI commits to the run and is ok with lots of 3rd and 4, and willing to go on 4th alot, then they can beat the Statesmen. If they give on the run and have more 2nd and 10's, or go down big early, Hobart can run away with it.  I hate overnight travel days at this level, kids just are out of ther routine.  Afraid this is a trap game for the Pumpkins.  21-14 Engineers, but pulling hard for Orange today.

My goodness Union offense is absolutely listless. Obviously much credit goes to that impressive Bomber defense, but man o man...Patch and company just don't have it.

Yea Ithaca has a solid defense this year that has given some teams a lot of fits.  Union lacked some playmakers at WR that I think they need to get past a defense like Ithaca has.  Flannigan is tough but can only do too much on his own.  Union had a real impressive run defense though, probably the best Ithaca has faced this year besides Endicott.  A few big breakdowns with Union's passing defense is what hurt them as well.  Tough watching a rebuiding year but Union always finds a RB and hopefully has a QB ready to go in the future.  Everything else is pretty solid.

Indeed; another the game where the Union defense hung int here, but just got zero help from the offense.  Disappointing game because unlike last week, where the Hobart defense just flat out shut us down, this week was never-ending shots to our own foot - 10 or so dropped passes, a bad overthrow pick and lots of holding calls.

Entertaining to see an Ithaca coach - pretty sure Toerper - have to be held back by his staff after losing it in the Union handshake line.

Against Curry Ithaca picked a pass of and during the return got called for a block on a defenseless player.  Play happened right in front of me and I didn't think it was the worst call in the world either way but Toerper went nuts....

Yeah, you'd think a 24-0 win would take the edge off.  Pretty funny when there's 125 Ithaca guys on the field and the HC is the only one who can't keep his composure.

JacketsPride

Rochester loses to Buff State 35-21.  The Bengals dominated throughout and deserved the win.  Jackets were plaqued by penalties, poor ball security and no rushing offense. We missed Papantonis big time!

I've noticed that Ithaca, Hobart and Unions TV productions of their football games all have missed camera angles, broken clocks, missed plays, decisions to go to an angle of a play where you see nothing, etc.

RPI on the other hand is by far the best production of any of the above schools and really do a great job overall.

Anyway, good game here in the 4th at RPI who has battled back and seem to have momentum.

Let me recap the end for you then:  Hobart Sack on 4th down, Hobart with big brass balls play to throw it downfield for huge completion, Hobart runs out clock, Hobart LL Champs!

Congrats to Hobart on a well-deserved LL championship! They proved it all year long, and I'll be pulling for them in the NCAAs

Late in the game, things got really, really chippy.

--Ithaca was flagged for a personal foul for unnecessary roughness

--Union got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct β€” from what it looked like, a Union player was jawing with the Ithaca sideline

--Two plays later, Ithaca got flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for shoving a Union player after the whistle

None of this is a judgement on either squad or an excuse, merely an attempt at an explanation

That second penalty on the Union guy for jawing was instigated by Toerper, who was chirping at Union players all day.  First class trash bag.  Maybe he's grumpy about taking the program in reverse -  inherited a stacked Swanstrom roster and went 12-1; then 9-3 last year; seems like 6-4 and home for Thanksgiving this year.

Congrats to Hobart on pulling out the win and wrapping up the LL title.  Can definitely see them winning a tournament game (or two) this year, especially if they get they kind of favorable first round game the LL game has gotten the past few years (UMass Dartmouth, Springfield, etc.).
