Woah, Union has massively rejected a power shift in the LL, up 34-6 in fourth. Yellowjackets are missing a lot more than Papantonis??

I know we all have our own teams to watch, but Cortland stopped Port on a 4th down with about 2min to play and got the ball at their own 10. Went down the field and hit a 38 yard FG with :31 to play. Port ripped off a huge return to the +35 and got picked off on the first play. Ended with a Dragon knee to survive 29-28.

Awesome comeback and awesome finish.

That was a great E8 Championship game played by both teams. What a finish. It doesn't get any better than that.

Fantastic finish against a great defense. Good luck in the playoffs. It should be another great game next week against the Bombers. Cortland will certainly be battle tested for the playoffs.

RPI and Union both step up this weekend and provide lopsided victories setting the stage for a great shoes game. Ithaca keeps rolling along and has a shot next week , for sure , against a Cortland team that will test your Defense, but I think your improving Offense will score . As far as U of R , not sure how broken you are, but Hobart will assume you'll bring your best and prepare accordingly.

Hobart by a million.

They arrived on campus in the fall of 2020 a group of 23 recruited to follow in the footsteps of one of Union's best ever teams. They practiced but never played that first year. They were part of a 2021 team that won it's first 8 games and should have been tourney bound if not for the improbable ending to that year's Shoes Game. In 2022 another promising season fell apart late with 2 and 3 point losses. Last year they were there for another one of Union's best seasons which culminated in a tournament win and a National ranking. They all graduated this June but weren't ready to leave, opting to take classes to play their final year of eligibility. This year often hasn't been fun but today they got it all together for their last home game, Senior Day at Frank Bailey field. Of course I'm talking about Union's 5th year seniors who've compiled a record of 27-14 while playing for three different head coaches.

Bolstered by a large enthusiastic group of parents and family (who have invested 5 years themselves) 5th year's Mike Fiore, Cole DeSilva, Ethan Vanderbrink, Nathan Sullivan, Sam Batchelder and Aidan Donnelly got a chance to smile and celebrate for the final time at home. I have the utmost respect and admiration for this group of six that stuck it out. A final lifting of the Shoes next week would be fitting.

UFan, congratulations on the win and the recognition of the fifth years and their parents. The players on all of our D3 teams endured a difficult 5 years marked by health regulations and a canceled season. The Sullivans also have an older son that played for the Statesmen,so I'm sure the whole family will be rooting for a Shoes win.Good luck next week.

Union, more than anyone, really deserved a game like they got yesterday. At home, in front of parents, just a dominating win. Good for them.

The Yellowjackets banked six wins, but without Papantonis, are simply not a threat.

RPI, like Union, got themselves a get right game before the rivalry matchup.

St. Lawrence felt like a football team of NPCs. Not like, terrible. Just generically uninspiring. They were down 40 seconds into the game, and sort of held Ithaca in check the rest of the quarter, but it was only a matter of time before it went downhill.

Ithaca is an unknown. Since being named the starting QB, Matthew Parker has thrown for 10 TDs and 1 INT. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's like they flipped a switch at halftime of his first start against Rochester, and the Bombers haven't been challenged since. The Bombers actually boast the league's top scoring offense right now.

But...the LL is down, and all these performances came against not great competition. Outside of the first quarter and a half against Hopkins, we've yet to see this offense make a quality defense sweat. Parker dropped some throws into buckets against St. Lawrence, but, Cortland's a whole different beast.

Hobart will finish the year with a win and hopefully get a home playoff game

I think that it is totally possible this happens, but I would love to see Hobart go to Endicott in Rd 1. Both Ithaca and RPI coulda/shoulda won those games. Would love to see Hobart finish the deal and listen to those little smug announcers squeal on the call.

We beat Endicott in Hockey on their ice two years ago in the NCAA tourney on the way to our first Championship , so I'd love the Statesmen to show the Gulls we can beat them on their turf in Football. The other dynamic is that our coach Kevin DeWall was dismissed by Endicott before taking the Hobart HC job, so I think there would be a nice payback motivation.

1.Hey ,we got 5 more votes this week in the Top 25 poll while not playing anyone...go figure ;)

2. We moved up to #22 on the latest NPI ranking, passing Carnegie Mellon. Not sure what kind of match-up process there is for the tournament, but just happy to be in it .

Just saw the top 25.  When was the last time UW Whitewater and UMHB were both out of the top 25?

Ice Bear

Re-Oline: It must be some time. I'm curious just how long. It is very odd to see both of them out of the top 25.

I am very pleased with Union's win on Saturday. While I was unable to attend I was able to catch some of the game online and was pleased with what I saw. I thought the defense played very well, obviously minus Papi the Yellowjackets were out of sorts, but I was still impressed. I am very happy for Patch having the game he had. I know he's been pushing for a game like this, and so has Drach. I feel like this is the type of game Drach would like to see out of his QB week in and week out. Maybe Patch is turning a corner here? I hope so. Like I've said all season. I love the kid's toughness and compete. If that accuracy continues to improve and the line is able to give him some time, maybe he will grow into a consistent and effective division 3 QB. I believe he has it in him.

I also really like the positive momentum this weekend has provided both Union and RPI. I think this helps build some more excitement for the Shoes game this weekend. I LOVE the annual Shoes game and hope this weekend's game lives up to its potential. I do favor RPI right now based upon Union's offensive inconsistency and RPI's pretty tough D. However I think the same can be said if you flip the script, RPI's offensive inconsistency and Union's tough D.

Congrats on the great win yesterday to Union, it's players, staff, fans, and alumni. That was a W we all needed, especially the kids who continue to work their assess off on the field and in the classroom.
