It may be a Scranton issue...

Could be but I was also checking in on the Moravian game & for about 2 plus minutes in OT their broadcast disappeared under the banner of Flosports "technical issues".
Remember, this whole scheme came with the promise of improved audio/visual quality & cutting edge technology.
All I've seen is one technical debacle after another.
No cheerleaders for the women either and absolutely no pre-season writeup for the Lady Royals.
Kevin Southard is running the scorers table at Marywood...bring him back to get this department organized.
No excuse for such a minimal effort.

Remember when there used to be pre-game notes for every game about the players, the coaches, and the projected starting lineups with stats.

I think you are talking about the choppy video on the Scranton feed, haven't notice that anywhere else. But i have notice the white screen with the annoying flosports music on other schools feeds when they are having techincal issues.

Ronk:
I sure do remember those game by game previews.
Now, we don't even get a review of the game until, in most cases, the following day.

NEPA:
Maybe it is a Scranton problem (the literal frame by frame telecast).
Heard Dean make a comment last evening trying to explain why Royals broadcasts are the only ones in the modern world where conversations between he and the engineers back in the studio are heard live.
The video was better 15 years ago when Dean held a cam-corder on his shoulder & called the game at the same time!

Beyond those continued technical glitches, the ladies looked pretty good for their first game against a decent team that will get stronger as the year progresses.

New Paltz vs. Vasser tonight in an early showdown of 2 teams that will be in the NCAA tournament come Feb.

Great Day to be a Royal

I didn't hear this. What was the explanation?

saratoga

Not a clue.
Lost in some word salad explanation.
Biggest takeaway...they "know it's happening".
The only other place it happens in the world is the calling of the camel races in Azerbaijan.  :o
Go Royals!

It happens in a ton of d3hoops broadcasts.  I heard it multiple times this past weekend. It's all about which feed they're sending to the broadcast.  So much of these programs are automated these days, it's often more difficult to fix a setting that's off.

Don't Look Now but...

When was the last time a Landmark team or any D3 women's team opened with 3 straight games scoring over 100 points?

Goucher says bring it on by scoring 131, 115, & 135 points to start the year.
They've scored  more points already this season than they did in the last 5 seasons combined. ;)
An average of 127 ppg is pretty darn impressive regardless of the competition.
What a difference a year makes.

ronk

There was a season recently when Goucher only had 8 players; tonight they had 16 playing in the game.

NEPAFAN

Are they playing the grinnell model?

They forced 51 TOs with 39 steals tonite but the opposition has been in the lowest quartile so far; we'll see how they do against Susquehanna in their conference opener Wednesday. At any rate, it's a sign of better times for Goucher.

DMAC doesn't weigh in too much anymore on here..

but..

Goucher scored 135 and 92 this weekend

Coach came from Birmingham Southern where they ran a version of the System.  That's what's happening at Goucher.

Many teams can take 100 shots per game but the key is to make half of them.
Most can't so they don't try.
You also can't play this system with an 8 person roster.
Now that he finally has a full compliment of players, why not try it.
On the other hand, good defensive teams make you work far harder for those shots & less & less will fall.
Patient but effective offenses also cause the system to become impatient and lead to crazy fouls which again, slow the game down & put points on the board.
I think the Gophers could bring low scoring offenses & less than average defensive teams like Lycoming, Moravian & Juniata some serious problems this year.
Good for them.
