Retired Old Rat

I am still in contention in the multi family category. Kind of like FBS and FCS.

The multi-family category?  Does ROR have a secret second family?  Now that's a question I had never expected to ask.  ;)

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

BDB

ROR's eligibility was a matter for the rules committee last year as he lives in a structure with common walls with other units. This thereby reduces his exposure to the outside temperatures and he was placed in a separate category, not to his pleasure if I recall.  ;D

Anyway, as far as I know he is the only player suited up in that multi-unit category so he rides to the top of the podium relatively uncontested once again.

Instead of the coveted "Golden Thermostat" trophy that Duffman holds, the multi-unit winner is given an Arby's voucher for a free roast beef to give to the guy that shovels the walk for Christmas as ROR is not saddled with the sidewalk/driveway clearing tasks like the rest of us.

Congrats ROR and the shoveling guy!  8-)

Quote from: RoyalsFan on November 12, 2024, 01:32:52 PMProbably so west coast games won't overlap as much.

There are no west coast teams in the MIAC.

I didn't mean MIAC teams, I meant any west coast games that may have championship/playoff implications. I'm just guessing here, as I don't know much about the west coast teams in D3 or even if there are any late games scheduled on the west coast. But if there are late games scheduled, then people can watch both early games and late games.

I'm not complaining. Just curious.
I heard it was because some MIAC schools don't have lights, and with daylight savings time a 1 PM start could run into darkness with a very long game.

Ok, I can understand moving the time up for games that don't have lights, but SJU has lights.

The conference can also dictate a start time for its conference championship game. It's perfectly allowable.

Why would the MIAC give a damn about game times on the west coast this week if they didn't in any of the prior weeks?  They don't care when Linfield plays.  Week 11 is still regular season; after this week, NCAA dicates start times.

A tradition unrivaled...

It is the regular season, but this is the conference's game and I think it's reasonable for them to set a start time.

Best to get used to those noon start times, anyway, until the football committee realizes what the basketball committees figured out about 5 years ago, that staggering the start times makes for a better product.

I'm am honored and humbled to repeat in the multi-unit (thanks for the correction BDB) category once again.

I already gave the guy who shovels the snow a Famous Dave's gift card for letting me into my apartment when I lost my keys a couple of months ago.  He's probably going to be disappointed with the Arby's voucher.  I'm sure he'll get over it.

No secret family.  Many of the posters  and lurkers have met all or some of my family.  My former wife and our son will be joining me in Cville this Saturday for the MIAC championship game.

Pat, I'm not arguing that and have no problem with the MIAC setting the start time.  I'm arguing that the MIAC isn't going to adjust start times based on when the NWC and SCIAC games are being played.

I can't believe we've put our MIAC Championship game in direct conflict with Fox Big Noon Kickoff. How will we drive eyeballs to the premium product?! It might push viewership numbers down from 2500 to 2200. That's a lot of lost revenue for the SJU streaming team.

OzJohnnie

Surely, no one is surprised here.  How long did the SJU faithful argue against lights?  And have they even been turned on since?

How about the video review board?

I was against both of those innovations.  It's just how we roll.  We don't need to change a good thing.  But then, after an appropriate amount of rural Minnesotan grumble time, we do.

However, if noon game times become a regular season thing, then the opening kickoff will be at 3 a.m., and I'll be missing more play than ever.
