What an amazing Empire 8 championship game on a perfect Saturday afternoon. On top of that barnburner Army keeps their program rolling, 2024 will be a season for the books. On a less light note, Godspeed on the recovery for Gocella, its terrible to see him in crutches on the sidelines, but hopefully Simmons and company can hold the Eagles over for one last week.

Word is the Cortland Campus is gonna bust like a baby's diaper on Miralax! I haven't been to a game on campus in almost 15 years. Luckily I jumped on a ticket as soon as they were released for football alums. Didn't sound like an easy task for other alums as they were in high demand as usual!

Cortland and Ithaca defenses playing big roles .......IC strikes early on pair of big TD plays before RDragon 'D' settles in. Corts get TDs on long pass and then E. Gallo legs before Bomber 'D' bucks up halting Dragon drive at the 5, and later halts driving Dragon on bungled snap.
  14-14 halftime .... CSt 241 yds (152 rush), Z. Boyes 7x11, 47 yds, S. Cotton 1x1, 42 yds, TD. IC 193 yds (95 rush), M. Parker 6x13, 98 yds, TD

With his downfield passing game pretty much negated, Z. Boyes engineers 28-17 Cortland Cortaca Jug victory with his and E. Gallo legs. RDragons piled up 324 of their 455 yards on the ground. Get clinching TD with 3:42 left on Boyes' deceptive third down three-yard run.
Cortland with several other scoring chances but yield to gung-ho Bombers who come out at half and immediatedly take 17-14 lead on D. Baldwin 42 yard FG. Just as quick comes Cortland driving the field and on third down finds Boyes completing five yard flag TD toss to CJ. Messina.
Boyes 13x22 for 89 passing yards, 1 TD BUT zigs and zags for 132 rushing yards on 15 totes. Meanwhile, sophomore Gallo lugs 32 times for 185 yards and his 20th TD on the season. Corts 'O' line does its job.
Bombers, 6-4 with three early season setbacks, net 321 yards -- 130 on the ground. Soph qb M. Parker 10x24, 148 yds, TD in reliable effort before exiting late in the game with an injury. C. Schumm 5x8, 43 yds in relief. J. Leonard runs for 117 yds in 13 carries. IC attack fades beyond first quarter.
Cortland 10-0 with 22 straight Ws, and await Sunday NCAA call.

Congrats to Cortland on a 10-0 regular season and figuring out how to win today. I was impressed with the Bombers effort, but Boyes just figures out how to win.

Big congrats to the Saxon Warriors on your triumph over Brockport . You showed you were a tough team in Week One at Hobart. I'm sure you made Pep's day.

...Indeed it did...but congrats also to Hobart. Good luck in the NCAAs! Pep didn't really know what to expect after that first game in Geneva. Were Saxons better or Hobart just not as good? Turned out BOTH teams played well enough to win and have both gotten better as the season progressed.

It was special for the seniors on the team who had never beaten Brockport.

Will be rooting for the Statesmen in NCAA play! Saxons likely to get an ECAC bowl...maybe host Rochester? Wouldn't that be fun?
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

Rodman and his crew have never shown up at midfield to give me their two cents' worth after the Stagg Bowl. I keep waiting.
