I think Endicott gets Cortland this year.

Machiavelli

Part of me is leaning that way, but I don't really think Endicott is as good as they were last year either. They probably should have lost to both RPI and Ithaca this year, so I'd put them right in that same conversation of how Cortland played and beat Brockport and Ithaca. I think it's going to be a battle either way and may come down to who can execute in crunch time, and it's hard not to give Cortland the nod there.

This game against Susquehanna is pretty much it for Hobart for the playoffs and I think the Hobart D will bring it that day. Senior Day was very special and this group knows they have the horses to keep them in the game. Our D Coaching staff has done a fantastic job all year and I know they will maximize the talent we have and cause problems for Sasquatch U. On offense , I think our Oline has developed all year and I'm hopeful that we can just score more than the other guys. Our Special teams including the best Place Kicker and  Punter in the league will be critical pieces in a game where every player will have to give maximum effort to win. Go BART . If we are fortunate enough to get the win , we will need to play about 18 on defense to stop the Jonnies. Tough draw for Hobart , but heck , no complaints.

If Cortland shows up, they will do what they have been doing. If they don't, then obviously a loss is possible.

The scoreboard hasn't shown the numbers that Cortland was putting up, but....with the style of offense they run, you need to pick the hill you're willing to die on. Do I want to tell my LBs to play aggressive and stop the run first (weaker teams have done this) and get torched over the top with the reads? Or, do I  drop my LBs into coverage to defend the "ball control routes", softening the box and getting nickel and dimed in the run game.

We don't have the receiver threat like last year...but this offense moves the ball at will. They put up 550ish yards v Brockport and 450ish v Ithaca. Those defenses slowed the attack down, but like a bulldozer, they dropped gears and still ground it out. Getting consistent stops hasn't been consistent for anyone this year.

Endicott played a great game last year! Cortland rolled in with their second O Line as something  like 3 or 4 starters didn't take a snap due to injuries. They weren't back to 100% until the Randolph-Macon game! Hoping for a few more weeks out of the Dragons and Hobart!

Tough draw for the Pumpkins but hey, this is the tourney and at some point you are going to play someone really good. The point is now for Hobart. I do concur that this is a winnable game for the Statesmen but they will have to play a VERY good game. I think their D can keep them in it. Offense will have to capitalize on any Sus. mistakes. Best of luck. As usual I will be rooting for the LL team first, then basically any region 2/1 team from there on out. I REALLY hope that Springfield gets a W. I think this is a decent Mass-Dartmouth team in relation to region 1 teams.

I almost guarantee that Cortland doesn't repeat this season. That certainly isn't a knock against the Red Dragons as I have a TON of respect for them. I hope they make a deep run but boy oh boy Endicott is going to be a tough team to get through. I favor Cortland here because of Boyes but I definitely see this one going either way.

Let's go Hobart and again, as a Union fan I send a serious congrats to RPI on the nice W and the Shoes trophy. I think Mach is right that this W gives the Engineers some positive momentum heading into next year. They certainly earned it and again, I was really impressed by how physically and athletically they ran the ball. I also like DeMatteo.

I think Union will continue to shuffle itself in the offseason. Hopefully Drach can get a few new recruits of his choosing in and the young kids who played their assess off this season, can have a hard working and successful offseason (both in and out of the classroom). I think they will come back ready to help this team come together and take another step forward. As far as the QB situation goes I hope Patch and Co. really work hard int he off season and come back and have a real tough competition for the starting position next season. It's really there for the taking. From Patch's season, I love his toughness and athleticism but he's got to improve on his accuracy and consistency if this team is going to be better, he has to. I really like Patch and am rooting for him but if he doesn't grow, this team won't grow either. I know it's a lot of pressure but that's what comes with college sports. As far as the fellas under him go they have an opportunity to really put in some work and show up ready to battle. Lastly the line needs so much work and hopefully the hard working young men on there see that. We need them to get better as we saw what having two 1,000 yard rushers and a poor Oline amount to, not enough. I give them all credit for their effort and commitment but again, if nothing changes, nothing changes. I still sit proud of this team's effort but am hoping for continued growth.

Agree with Ice Bear on the outlook for Union. The defense loses a few studs but was incredibly young this year, so I have no worries there. (We lose two senior safeties which is probably the point of most concern, but to be honest, but there is talent behind them with a higher ceiling.) The big question will be on offense, where a lot will depend on how this year's and next year's freshmen come along on o-line.  (And if Matt McCorkle returns next fall, the o-line will get a lot better a lot more quickly.) An impact recruit at RB and WR would help a lot, too.  As for QB, I could see Patch taking a big step forward next year with a bunch of games under his belt and an off-season where he knows exactly what he needs to improve.  Union also had a stud QB recruit that was injured in camp and had to redshirt, and I wouldn't be surprised if he competes hard for the starting role; his skillset is much closer to the wide open/vertical passing game I suspect Drach would love to run.

Based on their last few outings, it might be a rough go.

Thanks Oline89!

Agree with Mach that it might be rough as we finished last week with our 5th string QB and several back ups on the OL line.  4 fumbles and 3 interceptions can't happen again. Our best hope is that Wise gets healthy.

Regardless of the outcome it will help with recruiting and the future.  And it will be a nice way to end for this class that started their careers on the heels of an 0-10 season.

Congrats to the Yellowjackets on a fine season and selection for a bowl game. Tough injuries at the end of the year, but your Coach Chad can build on this. I heard Ted Baker accepted the announcing job for the game , so he will be a homer for the LL participant, no doubt ;D

D3.com Special Teams Player of the Week:

P Vicente Lyon, Jr., Hobart

Lyon supported Hobart's lockdown defense with four punts averaging 50.5 yards in a 37-7 win over Rochester. His first punt traveled 58 yards and was downed at the UR 7. His next punt was a 51-yarder that was downed at the 16. Lyon's third punt covered 45 yards. It was the only one that was returned, 14 yards to the UR 20. His final punt went 48 yards and was downed at the 3, helping set up a Hobart pick six to seal the win.

Brad westcott

My son Alex Westcott, Left Tackle for Buffalo St U. just tied Ali Marpet for the most 1st team Liberty League conference awards with 3 consecutive since 1995.
He is striving for a shot in NFL so any social bumps would be appreciated and I believe-deserved.
His film is on HUDL.
Thanks

Congratulations to your son Alex on his achievements . Following in Ali Marpet's footprint would be awesome. Good luck and I'll check the film out.

Ali Marpet was honored at Westchester County, NY Hall of Fame(https://www.youtube.com › watch?v=6_ttGusOyco), which summarized his career very well. He was "only" 6'4" and 245 pounds at Hastings High School but I saw him blow away a future Boston College starter in High School . He gained 60 pounds by eating continuously but kept up his weight training and agility drills and burst on the scene at the Senior Bowl by handling every D1 lineman. At the Combine he outsprinted his future QB(Jameis Winston) on the Bucs at the 40 yard dash, with a sub 5 second sprint and challenged Jameis frequently in practice to another 40 yard dash. After seven years, he walked away from millions of $$ in guaranteed money(with a Super Bowl ring and multiple Pro Bowls) to "protect his body and brain" for his life after football. Hobart was so lucky to have him and introduce himself from THE HOBART COLLEGE mocking all THE Ohio State players.
