The end of this game with all these penalties. Muffed kick recovered called back. Pick 6 called back.

Congrats to the Thunder!
CCIW finally breaks thru in Isthmus.

After going out in front 28-0, Thunder survive 35-32.

Very glad to see Wheaton escape with a 35-32 win. Will never complain about a win over a quality opponent and very happy for the Seniors. Props to Stout for continuing to play hard after getting down early. I will say, the periodically sloppy and undisciplined play that has been a problem for Wheaton at many points this year, but that didn't matter much against most opponents, almost cost them a game they should have been able to put away much sooner. Would have been great to see this team get a playoff bid, but I think this game (ending in a win), was about as good as one could hope for given this teams strengths and weaknesses.

Bruce Swanson of the 1968 NPC Viking team got an NFL gig as punter for the Detroit Lions.  Thus, the headline from the September 1970 North Parker, which my neighbor gave me, declares "Three North Parkers Join Pro Ranks!"  Dr. Werner was an NPC undergrad in 1968.

1968 and counting.

No, he didn't. The Lions signed him as an undrafted free agent, but they cut him. They went with a different rookie at punter, ninth-round draft pick Herman "Thunderfoot" Weaver, who ended up logging eleven seasons in the NFL with the Lions and the Seahawks.

It was an escape is right! Escape from Wisconsin and the refs - it was Wheaton's bane of the year. But they did it and my son is happy because it was fun to end his career on a win with a very nice trophy. My hope is that the CCIW will get a bit more props...still sad Wheaton was snubbed in the tourney. Oh well, the wonder of D3 Football!

Honestly was wondering this myself.  He's been like the 5th WR.  I expected him to have a huge impact when I heard he was coming.  He's seen the field, but sparingly.  Couple catches in the games vs. Aurora and Carthage, then  1-2 every other game except Wheaton and Wash U, where he had zero.

Madsen did get hurt early in the Millikin game and then sat the next 3 games before returning against Elmhurst.  He played with the 2nd team in his return game and then in next game against IWU he played more, but only because Jack Rummell sat out. His first and only catch of the IWU game he was stripped and fumbled, leading to a IWU TD right before the half.

Even before the injury, he was routinely the 5th wide receiver to rotate in, after Skokna, Rummell, Paradee and Myles Walton.

Sad that Madsen has been hurt, but it sounds like a perfect example of the difference between the Top of D3 and a lower ranked conference champ.  Their best offensive player transfers over and can't get time at a postion which is routinely rotated and used more this year than in years past.  Hopefully for him, his chance to shine late in the playoffs will present itself and he can capitalize to help the team.

Interesting that he was hyped up as a pre-season D3 1st-team all-American this year, even though he wasn't even the top returning WR in 2023 in Region 5.
