Another Upset alert:

Shenandoah beats #24 Hood College tonight 99-89. Great showing from the ODAC teams in the past 2 days.  In other ODAC news today:

My Maroons (Roanoke) beat previously undefeated Randolph College 88-82. I didn't get to watch but it was close throughout the entire game.  Randolph College is definitely better than last years' team and I'm pretty certain will finish at least middle of the pack.

Southern Virginia beat Washington and Lee 97-88

Salisbury University wins at Virginia Wesleyan 72-69

Lynchburg beats Methodist 66-55

Guilford blows out Peace University 96-63

In one other game tonight, Bridgewater easily handles Mary Baldwin 93-68. Mary Baldwin has wins over W&L and EMU.

Pre-Thanksgiving part of the season was just fine for the Tigers.  Brazil and Fernald are playing well - their 2 man game is something to behold.  Radcliffe is a legit shooter. The Tigers don't turn the ball over  much. The biggest worries are Fernald fouling out of 3 of the 5 games so far, the Tiger big guys' terrible foul shooting and team rebounding. Those things are going to cost the Tigers some games, but perhaps the break gave them the opportunity to address them.

Wednesday - Sunday: Ferrum, Randolph, and Lynchburg all had non-conference wins over D3 opponents. Averett lost in an exhibition game to D1 Winthrop.

Tonight W&L hosts Maryville. On Wednesday, ODAC play gets into full swing with six games. W&L is the only team not playing.

W&L loses to Maryville 75-60. I watched about the first 13-14 minutes. It seemed like a pretty average game between pretty average teams up to that point, and was still a close game. W&L obviously lacks the size and experience they had last year. Their starting five had no seniors. I think the announcers said it was two freshmen, two sophomores, and one junior.

My understanding is this W&L team is going to struggle. So far the results show that. Young is an understatement. I hope to see a lot of progress throughout the season though!

The women's team though... watch out. They are a force.

And yes, I still struggle to watch basketball. It's just not my thing, kind of like baseball, but I try to support all Generals teams.

As the ODAC gets into full swing tonight, there is a great lineup of games.  Noke at H-SC, GC at R-MC, Ave at Ferr, BC at Lynch, Rand at Shen and EMU at VW.  It looks like a bunch of toss-ups.  EMU and VW game might not qualify as a toss-up, but EMU might be more of a battle this season than last.  Are Noke and Averett ready for the top 25?  What about 5-0 Ferrum? Is H-SC ready for ODAC games?  Is Macon finally going to have a down year?  Interesting times.

^^^ All 12 teams in action tonight have records of .500 or better. W&L (not playing tonight) is the only team with a losing record. Averett and Ferrum are both undefeated, so one of them will remain so and one will take its first losss.

I agree that at the moment there is no way to predict winners/losers in tonight's lineup of games. It's possible that will remain the case for most of the season.

We are in Crenshaw but I would think it is safe to assume that we would be the underdog in this case. Students are back, however and this is a designated "SWARM" game!! Thats usually worth a 5 point swing AT LEAST! SOOOO......This one may be a toss up! I would expect Hasa's Quakers to squeak one out on us with our lack of experienced size but in Crenshaw WHO KNOWS???? GO JACKETS!!!

BTW- Has anyone heard from HASA?? He's usually a regular poster on here.....Havent heard a peep in a while- Hope hes OK!!!???

Jackets shock the ODAC... win big vs Guilford but there's an asterisk here... we shot LIGHTS OUT on threes and GC is without their 2nd best scorer and nobody else steps up really!! We are not  that many points better than GC ! Just a great night in the COTU for us and a bad night for them!! GREAT GAME JACKETS!!🐝🐝🐝🐝Save some for Saturday fellas!!

Home teams (H-SC, RMC, Lynchburg, Ferrum, and VWU) go 5-1 tonight.

Randolph is the only road team to win, downing Shenandoah 86-80. The Wildcats took the lead with 11:36 left in the first half and never trailed again. They led by 17 with 5:23 left in the game and held on to win.

In what is the biggest surprise to me, the only game that wasn't close was RMC's 86-55 win over Guilford. As noted by rmc1982, the Jackets shot very well (53% overall and 45% from beyond the arc), but the stat that sticks out most is the 38-24 rebounding edge. Guilford had a tough shooting night. It's easy to look good when your shots are falling and the other team's shots aren't. Still, the Jackets looked better than they did in their previous four games vs D3 opponents, especially on defense.
