Congrats to former Raider AA Mike Elder on guiding Avon to their first ever state championship tonight.  He's built a great program at Avon.

I second the congrats to Mike Elder for getting over the Hoban hump and winning the state championship. Mike is a really good guy and his program is one of the finest in Ohio, year in and year out.

Thanks for posting this article. Among other things I learned that Elder coached at Larry Kehres' high school alma mater for a year.

I echo the kudos to Avon. However, a BIG shoutout to the Flyers from Maria Stein Marion Local. To win a title is HUGE to win the championship game 74-0 is unheard of. Oh - and it wasnt as close as the score indicates 😳. They gave up 75 total yards and 4 first downs. It was 60-0 at halftime.

For the seniors - 64-0 and 4 titles. Congrats. Yo Raiders - the bar has been set!! Get it. Roll Raiders ~ Roll!

Marion Local is Division VII. They are in a conference (MAC) with D5 state finalist Coldwater. Marion Local beat Coldwater 35-0 in a conference game. They are unreal.

Unlike some, I hoped Archbishop Hoban would get to the football finals. I am sure that since
my oldest grandson plays basketball there, I am a bit biased. GO Knights.

However, Mike Elder has done a great job at Avon, Kudos to him!

Great to see Mount moving on.  In certain circles in Alliance there was great concern.  The 3rd string QB held up quite well, and our beast went beast mode.  Let's keep that rolling!  On the couch in Raleigh again this week.

First time I've ever heard Carnegie pronounced Car-NAY-gee. 

Not liking the defense so far, not getting a lot of pressure and are getting beat by these short passes

Mount's inability to get off the field on 3rd and long repeatedly seems less than ideal.

That's actually the correct pronunciation and the popularization of "CAR-nuh-ghee" (Hall) is wrong. Probably the New York accent did that.
