Trine not very good. Shot 9% from 3 point and turned it over a lot and at key times.
Point not too good either. Mid 20% from 3 point and snuck away with a 3 point victory.
Court was stormed. All 50 or so students. None of the fixed income crowd participated.
Hard W to celebrate, a lot of work to do for the Pointers.

Yes...the defending National Champions, who return almost everybody and added a couple grad transfers, aren't very good.

The bad shooting probably had a lot to do with the defense being played.

I'll say this though, I think Point's best lineup doesn't include Darrius Bolden but it does include Logan Baumgartner.

Greek Tragedy

I'll respectfully disagree. Bolden definitely doesn't shoot the ball well, but he does everything else really well. Rebounding, assists, steals. If Bolden isn't scoring, he's doing other things. Baumgartner is hot and cold. Great game today. If Baumgartner isn't scoring, he's not doing much else, IMO.

Bolden can make plays for sure...but he is very turnover prone.  It happened late against North Central that allowed them back in the game and 2 live ball turnovers today let Trine come back and take a lead late.  I'll also say this though, he made 2 really tough defensive plays on Garland late.  He is just so up and down that it's sometimes tough to watch in close games.

Greek Tragedy

He handles the ball more than anyone. Turnovers will happen. He's at a +8 in that department and also leads the team in steals. He's also 3rd in rebounding...as the point guard (1 reb. less than Cal, 3 less than Malik). Definitely needs to improve his shooting. If you take away his one 0-7 game, he's shooting 44%...not horrible.

Well, enough criticizing. I'm going to enjoy this win for the rest of the night.

*Calvin prevents the WIAC sweep by hitting a 3 with two seconds left to edge La Crosse 58-57.
*Platteville holds off Hope 71-64.
*Eau Claire beat Superior in OT 81-75

La Crosse makes 3 of 11 FTs in the 2nd half in a 1 pt. loss to Calvin. Yikes.

6'7" Lake County Lutheran F, Daniel Cleary, committed to the UWRF Falcons.  Good get here for UWRF, Cleary had a lot of interest throughout the WIAC.

Interesting tidbit from the post-game radio show. They said there's a JV game next week. I didn't know Point had a JV team.

palum

Platteville beats Hope in a replay of the 1998 National Championship game 71-64. Platteville was very balanced with 5 players in double digits. For once Logan Pearson didn't lead Platteville in scoring. Hope's big man was a big problem for Platteville.

You can see on the live broadcast that Miron left the game hobbling off.  Dernbach also alluded to it in the postgame interview.  He said that they should expect Miron to be out for a bit, whether that means just practice wise or expect missed games is unclear.  They don't play until Saturday.

No idea when Point was in the Top 25 last, but they return this week at #14 on the heels of their home upset win over defending national champs, previously unbeaten and previous #1 Trine.

*Platteville moves up one spot to #5.
*La Crosse drops 6 spots to #20 after forgetting to hit FTs resulting in a 1-pt loss to Calvin. The Knights his a 3-pt shot with 2 seconds left.
*Oshkosh just misses the Top 25, being the top vote getter in the ORV (dare I say #26). They received 61 votes, while #25 Guilford got 64.

If you don't venture outside the WIAC, it's important to note that Point not only beat Trine, but they secured The D3 Championship BeltTM
