Exactly! ... I was poised and ready to say, "Lost to Alma again."

yeah lot of big upsets this week, Cortland lost, St. John's Lost, Mount's second round opponent lost  :P

Residents of the nearly 8,000-person borough call their home Car-NAY-gie, because that's how Andrew would have said it. A video by the Carnegie Corporation of New York features Scottish people in Carnegie's hometown saying his name the way western Pennsylvanians would, with the emphasis on the second syllable.Apr 18, 2019

Raider 68

After attending the game today, I came away with a few thoughts.

Carnegie Mellon

- big OL and D's
- Offense forced away from Kicking game (horrible)
- #12 QB was their difference, could throw well and accurate, but slow
- Running game was limited
- not a clean team, several infractions not called

Mount Union

- brought intensity again today
- play selection and shifting good again
- more adjustments were needed since CM ran and threw to the right all day
- long drives, but not enough execution at times
- DeShields showed poise again today
- forced to dig deep to stop CM on their final drive
- Not enough QB pressure today
- No turnovers which was great

Salisbury

- Triple option could be an issue, but wide-open spread is not their style
- some healing on defense is critical for this one Saturday.
- CM has a better defense, so we will see how Mount attacks Salisbury.

The Raiders can win this quarter-final match-up. It would be great to play UMHB at home if
that happens. 8-)

An even more amazing stat about that 74-0 playoff score, the clock runs after 30 or 35 point spread, so there was no clock stoppages in the second half...

Very true. I am so amazed that their conference also has the Division V State Champ (Coldwater) which hammered Kirtland in the championship game - and yet Marion Local beat the D5 champ in a blowout 35-0.

On the video I posted - its an LK video with the Sirianni brothers. It is really good.

Salisbury is more spread option than triple option these days. They definitely throw the ball. Not in the same category as Springfield.

I watched the highlights - there are 2 on YouTube. The one is with 91.1 radio guys and the other(s) are like done by each quarter.

1. The radio guys - a ton of energy BUT SO ANNOYING! MaKes me long for the days of Pam Ward and Holly Rowe. And for those that arent familiar with them - THEY WERE AWFUL!! Just call the game. Noah Hiles (a former student) is still my favorite. Anyway - those highlights showed a few cheap shots from CM. However -

2. The other highlights showed more. Holding legs after the tackle so you can stand over the runner, cut blocking, out of bounds hit(s). CM is not a clean team. #2 and #97 stood out.

Was glad to see Mount respond after giving up the lead. We have to have that response!

Next Salisbury- we hosted them in 2022 (?) and won 51-0. I think this will be a different type of game.

FYI, the high school game between Marion Stein Local and Coldwater had a 50/50 drawing of over $ 22,000.  Both teams won state championships this weekend, but Marion won this matchup 35-0.

Thanks for the clarification, just watched some of their game footage and that's a better description for sure.

On a side note, I'm still surprised that schools still run things like the triple option and spread option. I know some schools have success with them, but I always wonder if they'd be more successful running a more modern offense.

Guess they don't subscribe to the Players - Formations - Plays philosophy

Any prognosticators have an early spread prediction for Mount/Salisbury?

35-28 UMU on top (my gut reaction)

Here's what some of the computer models have:

Massey Ratings: UMU 35-32 (56% of UMU win)
Hansen Ratings: UMU 37.4 - 31.7 (64.7% of UMU win)

I will be there (1981 grad) with my Daughter (2004 grad).
You will be able to find us ... we will be wearing Purple Raider gear!!! LOL!!!
Hopefully, better Mount Union representation than some "colorful" family support at the Delaware Valley game in 2022 that we last experienced.  The 2022 Stagg Bowl down the road in Annapolis was much better.

purple blood

Any word on Beaudrie? Is he the emergency qb or is there another qb. Was there a 3 rd qb dressed last game?
