United Soccer Coaches released their All-American Teams today.  As is usual, there are some head-scratchers and some notable omissions, but that's usually because there are so many worthy options.  Congrats to all!

a bit disappointed that Jordy Santana did not get recognition on any of these teams. He was the one player that was not replaceable in the starting 11 for UMW (would regularly play 80+ minutes). Just goes to show you that a CDM is not valued as much as attacking midfielders on these lists.

Just when you thought the boards were about to go quiet for the off season...

Surprised Adam Knutson from Trinity is not included.  I guess 17 goals and 6 assists are not good enough.

So true. There are some goalkeepers who get recognized because of defenders who make their job easier and some strikers/AMs who get recognized because of midfielders and defenders who protect them and cover for their mistakes.

Agree.  But I also think CDMs are used to the lack of fan fare.  Except perhaps Rodri.

Trevor Thompson of Pacific Lutheran had 23 goals and 12 assists this season and 55 goals and 33 assists for his career and never made an All American team.  Maybe the strength of schedule in the NWC isn't comparable to some other leagues, but he had a brace against both Calvin and Colorado College.  Connor Gage, a freshman at Edgewood, scored 20 goals and 13 assists and was named first team All American, but (and this is not a knock on him since he had a fantastic season) some of his stats were also against really weak teams in blowouts too and he was held scoreless against the two really strong teams he played (Eau-Claire and Superior).  Who knows why they are treated so differently, but it happens.

ThankstoJack

Agree. Back when we were recognizing All American teams at D3soccer.com, Chris Shirk and I made a point of including a CDM on each of our three (1st, 2nd, 3rd) men's and women's teams. Added work to an already massive and challenging project, but worth the effort IMHO.

I will say.... my Best XI... looks nothing very different....

SC.

SKUD

SC same list of exceptions for your 11 as your rankings?

Newenglander

How Peter Silvester doesn't make this list for Conn hasn't watched him play - grabbed everything in sight today. Team lost their first PK's in 4 years and he still saved 3 in the process......

Is Liam Gerken in one of your 11s?

Another SC show for us to anticipate. Can't wait for his all-American pics.

He's a threat from anywhere with amazing ball skills.  A true game changing player. He should be on this list.

Peter Silvester is the best goalie in the nation.

I don't think its close.
