Hallet was a great recruiter, when the Berg had its best team in 2012 there was no stadium just an old turf field and temporary bleachers, nor did the school have its new gym building yet. I don't know how he got so many great players to go the Hberg, when the school kinda was a dump at least football athletics-wise compared to other OAC schools.

We only beat Muskingum by TD late in the game...maybe they're the next to rise.  New stadium often means new recruits and new success follows

I get that its a highlight clip, but the tighter camera shots really show DeSheilds throwing a nice ball.  Tight spirals in the Alliance wind

The highlight clips always drive me crazy, the view from the sideline is the worst possible view to watch a football play, you can't see how far any of the plays are, you have no context for what's going on. There's a reason broadcasts are shot from a high angle. Don't get me started on ESPN's lame camera placement every time they cover the semi-finals in Alliance those are barely serviceable IMO.

I don't know it might be the Cardinals up to bat next in the OAC!

That mighty Otterbein defense held ya'll to a season low of 21 points, the lowest ya'll been held to since you guys lost to North Central, Cards will be having some real big, BIG NOON kickoffs in CBus next year  ;D ;D ;D

Would be nice for a Columbus school to have more than one win a year

Well they were aided by only have to defend 4 plays: side car right run up middle, side car left run up middle, empty set QB run up middle, slot WR screen.

I read the game notes and I'm not sure what to think about tomorrow.  I'm optimistic the Raiders will score some points so that's a good start.  It looks like Salisbury runs a 3-4.  I was trying to remember if any opponents this year were a 3-4 and I'm coming up empty.  The 3 starting DL are not huge, but the NG had 9.5 sacks in the regular season which caught my eye.

Historically Mount has always matched up well with option teams thanks largely to their overall team speed, but that's been mainly the old school, traditional option attacks.  My worry is that Salisbury will suck in the secondary with all the running and hit some big passes over the top.  They run for 335 ypg so you've got to commit to stopping the run obviously and take your chances in the passing game.  It looks like Salisbury starts a freshman QB so that's an interesting wrinkle.

As an ESPN+ viewer for all playoff games I'm excited to see a broadcast from a new venue.  Safe travels to any Raiders heading to Maryland!

I don't want to break the hearts of the D3football faithful.  But playing Mount Union, even in a "down year" is still a different story for the Steaks of Salisbury.  I've called Dartt a bunch of names, but there is no way that the road Raiders come out in Otterbein or Muskingum mode, right?

If Salisbury is 51+ points better than they were in '22 than their coach should have been region 2 coach of the year.

I know what you mean. I am looking at this like some of the past games against Wesley. Granted the Fightin' Steaks dont have Joe Callahan. But on paper it looks like a game and then it all went south. Or maybe the old Wheaton games.

I cant help but wonder if the experts see it as a nip and tuck and it turns out 61-3 or 70-21. Like we have all said - Mount has the tools to put points on in a hurry and a D more than capable to pitch a shut out. But will they show up and with SiL open the playbook?

But that logic also implies this Mount Union team is as good as the 2022 runners up team, which is asking a lot. Hope I'm wrong though

Mount avg 43.3 pts per game this year and give up 14. In 2022 we avg 43.53 and gave up 10. So it isnt that far off. However, it is more than just numbers - 2022 looked like Mount and this hasnt for big stretches.
Granted the Raiders had 2 close ones to end OAC in 2022 (jc and bw) and gave up 14 to Capital - so it isnt without similarities.
FWIW the Steaks (and I mean no disrespect with that moniker - I really think they should change it and get an NiL with Stouffer's 😁👍) average 48.82 on O vs the 33.27 they put up in 2022 and on D they give up 21.75 vs 17.91 in 2022.
Now when i put this into the ol'Skynet I get....hm. Does not compute? Hold on - running it through KITT and "Michael none of this means anything. They simply must play the game."

Already have more first downs in the opening drive as they had total last game.
