Quote from: Dr. Acula on December 27, 2024, 05:33:36 PMThe Athletic's draft guru Dane Brugler mentions Rossy Moore and Luke Lehnen as his players to watch in the Stagg Bowl.

"Mount Union LB Rossy Moore is a difference-maker off the edge (106 tackles, 11.5 sacks). Awesome burst and finish. NFL scouts think he has a legit shot."

https://x.com/dpbrugler/status/1871252375819977028

Mount Union's finest, Dane Brugler really going out on a limb with those two as his "players to watch" lol.  Hope Rossy gets a shot at some All-Star games.  I know that we should all be thankful that Lehnen has graced all D3 football fans with his presence while he completes his masters degree, and it's probably d3fb sacrilege to say, but I just can't imagine that there is a place in the NFL for him.

This is just Lehnen's 4th year, he's a post Covid guy. Just smart apparently and graduated early

He is just so amazing and incredible, but The Great Luke Lehnen was a freshman in the 2020 season, NCC didn't play a spring ball schedule.  He basically had a redshirt year prior to his "freshman season" in 2021.

Fair enough.

Great Bowl season for Purple Raiders. Vince and Jason win a six overtime game against Pittburgh and Matt Campbell's guys beat the mighty Huricanes.

Yes! ... Wish I could have seen the first game, but certainly adored the second.
Really proud of the showing of these "Purple Raider coached" teams.
Watching another right now (Nick Sirianni's Eagles).

Not sure the game announcers could pronounce "Heacock" correctly in the Iowa State Pop Tarts Bowl.  Growing up in nearby Sebring, it was always "HAY-cock" vice the game announcer's "HEE-cock."
Sorry ... Just little things that annoy old curmudgeons like me ... LOL!

I'll join your ranks. Last week I grew tired very quickly of the ESPN crew saying "John" Hopkins and coach Daryl "Early." Lot of preparation and care from the Worldwide Leader in hype.

If anyone is as weirdly curious as me I looked up the origin of the name. I always thought it was two last names like a guy named Johns and a guy named Hopkins but no, the school is named after just one dude with the name Johns Hopkins. Apparently Johns was his mother's maiden name or something so that's what he was named after. Now you know!

Luke Lenhen is also a four year starter for then NCC Baseball team? Pretty remarkable he's even allowed to, let alone has the time.

The Rossy Moore note by Brugler is interesting. Obviously you'd think the best player on a championship quality team would get a look, but he specifically stated that scouts love him. Sure hope it works out, he's an all time great Purple Raider.

For what it is worth, I was amazed by him (Rossy Moore) during his sophomore year, and when he would have seen NCC and Lehnen, in the 2022 Stagg Bowl (for reference).

Unrelated... Any video on that play [scoring?] where Lehnen rolls right and had that "extensive" blocking [holding]?

As much as I felt Mount wasn't in that game, they could've gotten the ball back with plenty of time to tie the game...

it was 100% a hold and a terrible missed call.  There were probably a handful of other horrible calls in that game though.  A missed holding didn't cost Mount a chance at the title in '22, doing absolutely nothing in the first half and getting down by 21 did. Hopefully it was a painful lesson learned.

100 percent agree! If my memory serves me correct, it should've been even worse at halftime. Our offensive playcalling was very conservative if I remember with the defense playing pretty well.

It should go without saying, but we're going to need every player/coach on their assignment and making the plays when it comes to them in their role. When you over play things or attempt to do too much, you'll be out of position.
