Logan Pearson became Platteville's Career Leading Scorer last night. Pearson led the Pioneers with 21 points in their 79-68 win over Eau Claire. He now has 1873 points passing Mike Eher's 40 year old mark of 1863. Eau Claire led for most of the game and Platteville started to cut the lead and eventually over come the Bluegolds in the last 6-7 minutes of the game. Platteville's depth and freethrow shooting made the difference. Platteville was able to keep a fresh body on Huschke (I think he played the entire game) and you tell by the end he was feeling it. Platteville was again perfect from the line going 16 for 16 while Eau Claire went 12 for 14. Joey Fuhremann contributed with 15 points many of those came late in the game when Huschke appeared to be slowing down.

WIACer

Pearson is good. UWP is good. But, I see what I see. And I don't have a dog in the race. wiac network for anyone wants to go watch any game. Although be warned. Not all schools feeds are the same.

Watching uwec vs uwp. One thing for sure. You need to beat uwp and survive the refs. 2 different games being called.

Pearson is the LBJ of the WIAC. Never isn't a foul victim down the stretch.

Here is today's NPI. Obviously the WIAC doesn't play until tomorrow, but I wanted to see how much change there is after tonight's games. The NESCAC and the UAA have games tonight, so it'll be interesting how much movement there is.

Greek Tragedy

I'm still trying to figure out how Point pulled that one out. Point pulled a Houdini trick out of the hat, forced OT and basically dominated the extra frame.

The home team was down 6 with a minute to go after Stout hit a big 3, but then it got interesting. The announcers basically conceded the game at that point. Point got an offensive putback after a Bolden miss. Down 68-64, Carter Combs forced a jump ball, possession arrow Point. Baumgartner hit a 3 to make it a 1-pt game with 37 seconds to go. A phantom foul resulted in Collin Vick hitting 1 of 2  FTs with 20 seconds to go. Bolden, rushing to get the ball up the floor, lost control and turned it over down 69-67 with 11 seconds to go and had to foul. They looked dead and buried at that point. Ex-Pointer AJ Uttech had a chance to put the nail in the coffin and exact revenge on his old team, but, he too, only made 1 of 2 FTs. Up 3, Stout fouled Bolden before he could get a shot off and he made both FTs to cut it to one with 7.8 seconds to go. On the ensuing inbounds, Stout got the long pass in and Bolden was called for an intentional foul. Again, it looked like Point was cooked, down 1 with Stout getting 2 FTs AND the ball. Uttech again had a chance to bury his former team and made both FTs. On Stout's inbounds pass after Uttech's two FTs, Point fouled and sent Justin Nelson to the line to ice it up 3. Shockingly, he missed both FTs despite him being an 80% FT shooter. Bolden, again, got the ball in his hands down 3 and, again, Stout fouled before he could get a shot off with 2.2 seconds to go. He made the 1st and purposely missed the 2nd. Bolden was fouled on the miss and made both FTs with 1.7 seconds to go. Tied at 72, Stout had a good, open look at a 3 from near halfcourt, thanks to some bad clock management from the home clock operator. No way he can catch, turn, dribble and shoot in 1.7 seconds. Thankfully it was off the mark and Point prevailed in OT.

Bolden showed the best and worst in the last minute or so and in OT. He went from goat to hero several times, missing bad shots, turning the ball over, but also hitting clutch FTs down the stretch. Bolden finished with 21, but was just 5-15 shooting. He did make 10-11 FTs with his only miss on purpose. He did lead the team in rebounding with 10 and also had 4 assists. Amazingly, he was only credited with 2 TOs. Cal Krohn lead Point with 28, hitting 8-15 from the field and 12-14 from the line. Baumgartner chipped in with 14. Carter Combs played big minutes with Seth Miron in foul trouble and eventually fouling out. Combs had 6 points, 8 boards and 4 steals. The Pointers finally hit their FTs, going 29-34, while Stout will be kicking themselves for not sealing it in regulation, shooting 50% for the game, including just 6-14 in the 2nd half. Jacob Walczak lead the visitors with 30, hitting 8 3s, while Uttech scored 22 against his old team.

Crazy game, for sure, but I'll definitely take the win. Oshkosh comes to Quandt Wednesday.

'95 Blugold

Didn't get a chance to watch as I was out of town, but the Blugolds went on the road last night and took down Whitewater 99-69.

Blugolds shot 75% in the first half as the scored 61 in the first half alone. For the game they shot 61% from 3 as they nailed 17 from beyond the arc for the second time this season.

Such a weak foul call by Justin Marien on AJ Uttech. There's nothing there. You can not make that call.

Another terrible first half for the Pointers in a home conference game.  I can't fathom why they can't show up ready to play.
