It is so interesting how coaches won't adapt.  Maynard won with the Wing T, Power I, Air Raid and Spread Offense.  Coaches need to coach to what they have.

I played at Redlands when we ran the Wing-T, Power I, and Spread offenses. We were dominant with all 3. The modern day Wing T is so diverse and capable with plenty of passing elements to it. Watch any Gun T programs that run it well and you can see how it can be successful.

RBF, Good does not want to call the offense, behind the scenes he has been working harder than Maynard due to the duel role. I too did not like what I saw on the field, but fact are facts in terms of Good's efforts. I am a huge Maynard fan as you we all know. I do not have knowledge of a timeline, I too thought the new OC start date would follow the second semester timing.

Jim Good's work ethic is not in question. I'm sure he works hard, but his ceiling as a coach is to be an assistant. His head coach record is terrible and he's cratered the program. Winning 3 games with 2 of them against an awful La Verne program is unacceptable. It's been a downward spiral for 3 consecutive seasons. The program needs a reset under new leadership.

The argument about not having an OC is irrelevant when it comes to his record as a head coach.  Look how many Head Coaches in the NFL and College call their own offense and are very successful.  It can be done and isn't happening at UR.

Exactly! The offense has been straight up trash for years. They could not run or pass block last season. I'm in touch with a Dad of a high end WR who was contacted by Redlands and I told him to pass as his son can do better. I was right as he has offers from D2 schools in the last few weeks. And I told him to reach out to Linfield if he was going the D3 route. Think about that for a second.

10,

Pro and college teams has a set number of paid positions, D3 schools are different. So its apples and oranges.

Yes the offense has been frustrating, it was better when Good was the OC but not great for sure.

What is boils down to how many full time coaches does a D3 school have.

UR is still in the interview process for their new OC, in the later stages, personally surprised it did not happen sooner, but we will know something soon enough.

Thanks for the inside update olddog. I'm surprised it is taking this long as well. I guess if they find the right guy no one will complain about a few weeks. Key is getting the hire right.

When do they start spring football?

olddog

31,

I will see someone that knows a little in a few weeks. In the past spring started late March, early April.
I would not be surprised if the OC is picked in two weeks or less.

Matters little if they try to run the same spread system. The offensive line has regressed to such a bad state that more than half of those guys have no business playing college football.
