Season premier of Hoopsville was last nite; discussion with Scott Peterson about the new rating system(NPI) in the 2nd half of the show. Thursday's show will have the men & women's NCAA basketball chairs as guests.

Kaci injured her left hand tonight in the 1st. quarter.
Came back in during the 2nd. period for a few minutes & made some free throws but then sat out the rest of the game.
Jenna in street clothes so not sure what happened with her.
Hope both are ready to go on Sat.
Kudo's to Elizabeth Bennett...that young lady keeps getting better & better.

Good to see the reserves play most of the 2nd half to give them playing time and lessen the possibility of injury to those in the rotation.

With Catholic over Etown tonite, a win by the Lady Royals @ either Catholic or Etown should lock up the #1 seed in the conference playoffs and eliminate a mid-week travel game.

First NCAA Regional Ranking is out...

1.Scranton
2.Gettysburg
3.E-town
4.CUA
5.Messiah
6.JHU
7.Immaculata

Looks like E-town's visit to # 3 will be short lived as well as possibly G-burgs hold on # 2 after last nights loss to JH.

Regional rankings really have no bearing on anything anymore but I guess this gives the committee something to do.

Yep, they're meaningless, and potentially misleading (Since record vs Regionally Ranked Opponents is not a factor in anything).

But here's what Region 5 looks like after last night (because this can be calculated daily, regardless of the NCAA's publishing schedule).

Johns Hopkins4

Gettysburg has been missing arguably their best player(Szlosek) since the 3rd game of the season. Immaculata being led by Scranton recruit(then changed her mind) Carly Coleman.

First and foremost praying that the team and families have a safe travel home.Harrisburg they say is a sheet of ice. Safe Travels. So after a great dinner at an old Firestation called the firestation in Silver Springs,Md.Let us get to the top 20 showdown at The Dufour center.Matt had his team ready and he new that you had to double team or triple team the post(which Catholic did well)This game was just nip and tuck the whole game of course Refs do not do justice.I mean they called Kranson for a walk but Scoblick does exactly the same **** and no call. But over that. My star players Bennet Romanowski and Sloan big steal and great pressure on the inbounds.Great job Lady Royals tough place to play and win with those students behind the basket especially that close to the floor(Court) and playing a drum.Everytime a player would fall they would come up to them as they are laying on the floor on the inbounds and heckle them not good. If one of those visiting teams hit one of those students. It would be a Technical and probably kicked out but they can get in your face and scream and yell bull**** and that.

Ronk :I forgot to mention to you about that.I guess Dave McHugh does their home games and I thought I heard him say she is done for the year and will not be back next year either.

Too bad the Lady Royals didn't have their own bus so they could take off right after their game & not be stuck at the men's mess for nearly another 2 hours.

By the way...
Just want to give a shout out to the CUA broadcasters for doing a fantastic job calling the game & providing good color yesterday.
By far the best broadcast team I've heard this year.
The solo act done for FloHoops in Florida was outstanding as well.
Naturally there was some bias for CUA regarding some calls but that's to be expected...certainly nothing over the top.
Really well done with names, basic stats, and telling the story before them.

Just Wondering:

Anyone know the Landmark by-laws should Scranton end up 18-0 & E-town & Catholic finish 15-3?
If the schedule plays out this way, then both Etown & CUA would have lost both games to the Lady Royals & split with each other.
Is it point differential?
Flip a coin?
It matters since one of them would get the bye in the 2 slot.
Should Etown beat Scranton in the last regular season game then they obviously get the 2.

Tim the Enchanter

If they finished tied, the first 6 tiebreakers wouldn't yield anything:

https://landmarkconference.org/sports/2022/4/25/championships-tiebreakers.aspx?path=champs

It would likely got to Catholic because of the 7th tiebreaker (NPI ranking), assuming there is no change in their position between now and then.

From the Landmark Website:

***
# Basketball
In the event two (or more) teams tie in the conference standings, the following procedure shall be used to determine seeding for the championship:

1. Head-to-head record amongst all tied teams in contests that count toward the conference standings

2. Comparison of tied teams' records against remaining teams in conference standings in descending order (starting at No. 1)

3. Head-to-head results between and among all tied teams in all regular season contests (only if tied teams played the same amount of contests against other tied teams)

4. Head-to-head record against common non-conference opponents at same site

5. Head-to-head record against common non-conference opponents at different site

6. Road winning percentage in conference games (only if tied teams played the same number of away conference games)

7. NCAA NPI Ranking that is available at the time of selections

7. Coin flip (or similar random action)
***

I think #1 - #3 would be tied.

I don't believe Elizabethtown and Catholic have any common Non-Conference opponents

So skip #4 and #5

#6 would be tied as well

#7 is going to be Catholic (Elizabethtown I think played a slightly harder Non-Conf schedule, but lost 1 game in Non-Conf while Catholic did not, so I think Elizabethtown cannot catch Catholic in NPI unless Elizabethtown is 1 game better in the Landmark).
