The WARHAWKS open the 2025 season with a rout 26-4 over Asbury (Ky).  Jack Hagan got the win (5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 K).  Evan Wickman (2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER,  2 BB, 1 K) pitched in relief.  The team pounded out 22 hits and opened the game with back to back home runs from Aaron Holland and Matt Scolon.  Holland finished with 3 home runs and 5 RBI. Scolon finished with 2 home runs, a double and 5 RBI. Andy Theis doubled and ended with 5 RBI. Also doubling were Eli Frank, Sam Paden and Daryl Jackson 2.

Game two started fast for the WARHAWKS who plated 6 runs in their first at bat.  Theis's 3 RBI double was the big hit of the inning. The WARHAWKS plated a single fun in the third which Asbury matched and a second run in the seventh making the score 8-1.  Four more WARHAWKS runs score in the ninth.  Three on Eli Frank's home run. Cade Hansen got the win (5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 K).  Taczy (2 IP, 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K), Koenig (1 IP, 0 H, 1 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K) and Hooper (1 IP, 1 H,1 R, 1 K) pitched in relief.

Today's wins gave head coach John Vodenlich 729 career wins making him the all-time winningest coach in WIAC history.

The wind was a factor today.  One foul ball over the third base dugout blew back and ended up 15 feet onto the playing field.  The two teams play again tomorrow.

Runs were harder to come by in game three with the WARHAWKS pulling out a 6-3 win.  Asbury scored first on a two out RBI double in their first at bat but the WARHAWKS answered with 3 runs on RBIs from Theis, Paden and Jackson to lead 3-1. That stood till the 5th when the WARHAWKS scored a pair on Frank's single and Hopper's double making it 5-1. Asbury cut the lead to 5-3 with a pair of runs in the sixth before the WARHAWKS scored an unearned run in the ninth.  After pounding out 36 hits in the first two games the WARHAWKS had just 7 today.  Jackson was the only one with multiple hits (2x3) which included a triple. Logan Eisenbarth (1-0) got the win allowing 4 hits and an earned run in 5 innings.  Eisenbarth struck out 3 and walked 2. George Hansen (1IP, 3H, 2ER, 1BB, 1K), Koening (1IP, 2H), Sava Dupor (1IP, 1H) and Ben Lee (1IP, 0H) pitched in relief. Lee was credited with a save.

Quote from: tomt4525 on December 19, 2024, 10:08:14 AMIt looks as though UWSP may have gained an impact transfer for the future, hopefully at least.  Zach Olson, a 2023 grad from Muskego, committed to D1 Hawaii has transferred to Stevens Point.  I'm hopeful this lessons the blow of losing Mason Weckler and can help add to the depth of their pitching.
Looking at the 2025 UWSP Baseball roster, there is no sign of a Zach Olson....

Quote from: ShineTime on June 29, 2024, 08:23:21 PMDoes anyone know why Huber didn't play this year for Pointers? I agree Point is in big time trouble and staring at 5th or 6th place unless there's a miracle!
Huber started in two out of three games over the weekend against Washington University as the Pointers opened the 2025 season going 0-3...

Could be an injury situation, not sure.  His social media still lists himself as part of UWSP Baseball.

TheWARHAWKS (5-0) open the Florida trip topping Grinnell 9-8 in walk off fashion on a Theis single.  Koening got the win in relief (0.1IP,1H).  Hagen started (5.2IP,7H,4ER,1BB,5K). Hansen (1.1IP,3H,2ER,2BB,3K) and Tazy (1.2IP,2H,2ER,1BB,1K) also saw time on the mound.  Jackson led all batters going 3x4 which included a pair of doubles. Cootway's pair of hits included a home run and double. Scolon and Frank each doubled and Paden had a home run as the WARHAWKS (5-0) had 7 extra base hits.

Trailing 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh the WARHAWKS (6-0) erupted for 8 runs in their final two at bats to defeat Carroll 10-6. Eisenbarth started (5.2IP,8H,6R,5ER,2BB,10K) before being relieved by Wickman (0.1IP,1H).  Lee (2IP,2H,1BB,2K) pitched out of a 1 out bases loaded situation in the seventh to pick up the win and Husebroe finished with a 1-2-3 ninth. The WARHAWKS (6-0) started fast scoring a pair of runs in the first and three more in the second to take a 5-0 lead over Sewanee (11-7).  Sewanee got a single run in the sixth but the WARHAWKS put five runs on the board in the 7th to go up 10-1 before Sewanee finished the scoring with a run in the ninth.  Cade Hansen picked up his second win (6IP,4H,1ER,2BB,8K) before being relieved by his brother George Hansen (1IP,1BB,3K), Huseboe (1IP,2K) and Brandon Burst (1IP,1H,1ER,1BB,1K).  Cootway led the hitters going 3x4 including a HR and 3RBI. Edgewood (2-7) made the game interesting but in the end it was the WARHAWKS (7-0) who prevailed 9-7.  Cruising 9-3 after their sixth inning at bat WARHAWK reliever G. Hansen stumbled loading the bases on walks with none out.  Hagan appeared to be pitching the WARHAWKS out of the jam when he struck out the first two hitters he faced and coaxed the third into a flyball to center. However the fly was dropped allowing all three Edgewood runners to score before Hagen could end the inning.  Edgewood would score a run in the seventh bringing them to within a pair 9-7. But Huseboe allowed just a pair of hits and struck out three over the final two innings to preserve the win and pick up his first save. Koening started (4IP,5H,3ER,3K).  Hansen (1IP,0H,3BB) got the win.  Holland and Frank each went 3x5 and had an RBI. Theis had a pair while Hopper and Najera each has a single RBI.  Hollland, Frank, Cootway and Najera had doubles and Scolon had another triple today.

Scolon scored the 196 run of his career establishing a new program record.

Coach Richter sure put a fantastic squad together this season.  Gives up 15 runs today to UWRF squad in year 1 and lose game 2.  They might not have good enough pitching to make the conference tourney.  Hitting against pitching with a pulse has been non-existent as well.

Richter's recruiting has been sub par based on the rest of the WIAC so I don't see it getting turned around anytime soon.
