Quote from: Dr. Acula on April 06, 2025, 06:23:46 PMI was listening to game 1 on the WMOA stream then randomly at some point it kicked me off and kept telling me that due to contractual obligations the current programming could not be streamed.  Weird.  It's never happened before and I listen to WMOA streams regularly.

Etta was very competitive today.  Wednesday will be interesting with Otterbein facing the #3/4 guys, but after that they have Ziance/Rocky the rest of the way and their schedule was front loaded.  They're on a 10 game losing streak now.  I wonder when was the last time that's happened?  They're going to stack some wins coming down the stretch though.

Yeah, it was down for while so I followed the scoring for a few innings.  Wharffy probably kicked a wire loose 😄

Mount cruises in game 1 in Westerville 8-2.  Breeden was excellent again today (7 IP, 1 R, 8 K).

JCU topped Cap 5-4 in their opener and currently lead 9-3 in game 2.

Dr. Acula

JCU went on to pummel Cap 16-3 to complete the sweep.  The Streaks took full  advantage of getting to the SP early and getting into the iffy Cap bullpen.  JCU is now 5-3 and sitting in 4th place a game up on Muskingum.

If you would have given me the following stats for Mount in game 2 I would have guaranteed they lost the game:  5 errors, 6 BB, 3 HBP, 5 WP (resulting in 8 runners advanced).  Instead they won 19-8 to remain a perfect 8-0 in OAC play.  Otterbein has big problems on the mound.  They're 2-6 and still have BW and Musky to go.

Berg and Wilm are the only games tomorrow.  That feels like a pretty evenly matched one.

Otterbein is who we thought they were..needs pitching.  But they are also only batting .271..a far cry from last year's team.

Mount is in the driver's seat but still has BW, ONU and Muskingum..things could change quickly.

BW still being carried by the pitching staff. They've been really good.

ONU owns the tie breaker against BW and Muskingum and they are well balanced.  Coach Stech always has arms and somehow found another one in Saylor.  Freshman has pitched great so far.

Hitting the home stretch..lots of possible movement these next 3 weeks.

Dr. Acula

Other than Ullom and Perebczak there weren't a lot of bats I was worried about yesterday.  Very unlike a typical Ott team.  Side note: Otterbein really needs to spend a little money fixing up that field.  The dugouts are a mess.  The press box exterior needs some repair/upkeep.  There's still a dirt trail where I'm assuming a drain pipe was installed between the 1b line and the dugout.  Even at the beginning of the season the edging around home plate area, the mound and the IF was ragged.

Mount isn't going to hit a bunch of homers or really even a ton of XBH in general.  But they play to their strengths.  They can run 1-9 and they hit .318 as a team.  Yesterday aside they usually defend well.  Their pitching is good.  And they have a bunch of 4th and 5th year guys so they don't panic or beat themselves.  They're just a good, veteran squad this year.  Good enough to win the conference remains to be seen, but I don't think they're big underdogs to win it.  I'd say ONU is in the best spot right now because they have the BW sweep in their pocket.

If anyone is interested, the Muskingum at Cap DH is starting at noon and they're playing at Huntington Park with what appears to be professional quality video streaming.

Thanks for the heads up.
Cap played a DH there vs OWU in March and will play DH vs BW there on 4/26. I might try to make that.

Better bundle up..Sun was out first half of game 1 but not anymore.

Dr. Acula

Mount took the opener from BW 5-1.  Warner was strong again over 5.1 IP today.  Phillips needed only 37 pitches to finish the remaining 3.2 IP.  Curiously Lehman did not start on the mound or in his standard cleanup spot in the lineup.

I meant going to the BW DH on April 26.

Probably a better decision.

Can't keep making excuses for Muskingum..too many miscues defensively to compete for an OAC title.  I will say this though, this is not the same door mat of a team from Bexley.  These boys can swing it and the pitching seems to be trending upwards as well.

Dr. Acula

The DH this weekend at BW is massive for Muskingum.  I was not impressed with BW's bats yesterday.  Mounts #4 and 5 SP held them to 4 total runs on the day.  BW does have some good arms though so the Fish will need to play clean in the field.

It's a 3 team race for 2 spots in the conference tourney.  Berg is a game behind Musky, but they're done based on their remaining schedule.  It's BW, JCU and Musky for 2 spots.  BW plays both of them still so they have the most control of their own destiny.  Muskingum has Berg and Ott after BW.  They really need to sweep both of them unless they sweep BW first.

BobcatQB

Yes, they have really hurt themselves with the 3 splits vs Wilmington, JCU and Cap and losing two to ONU.  Plan was to split w/ ONU, BW and Mt and sweep the rest to guarantee a spot.  Now they need some help and can't afford another sweep.  Losing two in extras, a 4 unearned 1 run loss and the one run loss to JCU is brutal.  Striking out with the bases loaded against JCU..uggh.  The good news is that Cover is easing his way back into the rotation.  He should be ready to go against BW and everyone will be available except Valentine.  Gotta get that offense back to scoring double digits.
