Mount released a "new" logo for athletics today. Yawn.

Screams of consultants getting paid for consulting and that is about it.

I'd rather hire an Offensive Coordinator than paying a graphic artist to slap a sword on the generic purple M

hopefully they don't but it wouldn't shock me if Mount messes with one of college football's iconic helmets

Just don't touch the helmet! My worry is the new underline RAIDERS will end up on it though

I am sure they spent way less than one FTE salary on the graphics.

In terms of like, a check they had to cut to someone? Maybe.

But partnering with an agency plus "extensive research and collaboration" means lots of people in lots of meetings, exchanging lots of emails, and that stuff has a cost to it.

As an alum, I remember receiving emails last year asking me which new logo design I liked based on a few options.  They were all very similar.

So does hiring someone.

Correct.

I still think you're wrong however. The sheer amount of meetings that go on for months around stuff like that is insane. And far too many people become involved.

Having been involved with countless things like this in my time in higher ed, it has never ceased to amaze me how much of a time suck they become.

The law of triviality is C. Northcote Parkinson's 1957 argument that people within an organization commonly give disproportionate weight to trivial issues.[1] Parkinson provides the example of a fictional committee whose job was to approve the plans for a nuclear power plant spending the majority of its time on discussions about relatively minor but easy-to-grasp issues, such as what materials to use for the staff bicycle shed, while neglecting the proposed design of the plant itself, which is far more important and a far more difficult and complex task.

Me too. I especially liked when they said in the email "we're not changing the logo."

Then why are you sending me this? Not at all suspicious.

I kind of like the new logo! The M with the sword is kind of BA, and in my opinion, a step up from a simple purple M!
