TT, no, the prospect is not a potential Johnnie football player. I did ask him if he was interested in any sports. He said intramurals. I'm sure you can relate to that, right? ;)

Mr. Riegs is still competing with Mr. Wonka for biggest WR to play in the MIAC who can still pound Mr. Duffman.

Wonka, did you even play football ;)?  The only one on this board who can even hope to claim dominance over the DuffMan is Frank, and he's too busy mourning his precious 30-packs to pipe in.

A little Valentine's Day story for everyone, as told by Charley Walters:

College football's all-time winning coach, John Gagliardi of St. John's, and his wife, Peggy, celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today on Valentine's Day. On the day after they were married, Gagliardi was coaching hockey at St. John's. Their honeymoon was spent in Duluth when St. John's played UMD.

"I didn't take Peggy on the team bus, though," he said.

Fins - How did the fishing tourney turn out?
We had a good turnout Veek. 216 entered in the fishing contest. A 2.1 lb. northern won $200 for 1st place and 2 lb. northern got $100 for 2nd. And the panfish division was won ($200 also) with a .56 sunfish.
Yours truly held a Hamm's in one hand and a microphone in the other for 2 hours drawing door prizes and otherwise entertaining the multitudinous crowd.

Anybody going to the SJU-GAC hoops game on Saturday?
SJU alumni can get in free with the following:

A couple questions if anyone has time to answer. Trying to make arrangements to attend Eau Claire/SJU game Sept. 2. The main question is where is the CLOSEST hotel, and if it's a real dive, where is the closest nice hotel. Also, do you expect a big crowd for a game that time of year? Hoping to load the trunk of the grey caddy with beer and make a weekend of it. Thanks.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

DuffMan

There's an AmericInn in St. Joseph that is about 5 miles from SJU.  Probably your best bet.  Anything in St. Cloud wouldn't be more than 10-20 minutes, though.  There should be a good crowd on hand for the game.  Probably 6000-8000, I'd guess.

Kilted Rat

JF,

Closest hotel is the Motel 8 in St. Joe, about 10 minutes away. Next closest ones will likely be in St. Cloud.

The phone # for the St. Joe Motel 8 is (320) 363-7711.

As far as crowd size to expect, it's the first home game following an undefeated regular season... I'd expect a solid turnout. Plan on getting there early in time to take in the Stiftunfestivites in the Parking lot behind the field and meet as many posters as possible.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

DuffMan

OK, maybe it's a Motel 8.  It's pretty close, regardless.

Guys how much room is there in the science parking lot? I would like to come down and do some grilling for SUM jr. and some of his friends before some games next fall. I attended a couple of games last fall and fell in love with the place.
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Or try the Motel7 which I hear is nice. Located right between the Motel6 and the Motel8.

There's always room for more, although if you're not there early you may have to park somewhere else and walk over. Leave your spatula at home and leave the grilling to us.
Where are you coming from?

BDB

You've got your Motel 6's and your Super 8's.

Unless they merge and and create a SuperMotel 7.  ;)

Fins, you should also mention that we seem to be starting the Stiftungsfestivities earlier and earlier each season. We got things running around 8:00 a.m. a few times in 2005. With the new addition of pro wrestling and visits by Paris Hilton and Bono, we may be out there around 6:00 a.m. Then again, you can never spend too much time in Collegeville.

Veek

Sumander,

Like Fins said no need to bring all your gear.  Just bring food to share and join the Stiftungsfestivities.  All are invited.  Fins may even share a cup of his famous koolaid with you.  No kids, though.  That almost occurred last year when one of Ritz's kids was getting ready to pour himself a cup.  Naturally, we were watching the koolaid like a hawk so none was wasted or tasted by a minor.
Go Johnnies!!!
