This is for all you MIAC fans. What can you tell me about the ST Thomas team. Where do you pic them in your conference.  Can they compete with either the Johnies or Cobbers?  Where do you rank them in the MIAC.  The Dutch will be there the first week of the season.  I am just curious as to where you all think they rank.  Having been there last year to play a good Bethel team do they rank there with them.

I know the game isn't done yet, but it appears that KR has some sort of magical power in posting these pictures.

CC's line tonight:  3.2 innings, 6 hits, 8 runs, 3 earned runs, 4 walks, 4 k's...I think he needs to hit up the dollar menu tonight.

Hafner tonight so far: 1 for 3 and getting gunned down at home
Heaven isn't too far away,
Closer to it every day

Opening up a can of worms!!!

UST is middle of the pack in the MIAC.  They annually have pretty good talent, but for whatever reason cannot get things together as a team.  I would put them in the MIAC second tier.  Bethel has struggled since Meidt left but still has a good back in Porta; however, they have relied on him too much and have not had good QB play to complement him.  As a result, the Royals struggle to keep up with SJU, Concordia, and last year, STO.

Oh ****. Isn't KR going to be gone? We need a picture of Jeremy Sowers.

The best I can find.

Sweet stirups.

Sorry JR. Couldn't make it down to Chaska tonight. Legion playoffs started, and the Hutch Tigers are the No. 2 seed.

For those familiar with Tyrone Wacker, former Stewart/Jackson County Central/other places football coach, he has signed to become football and basketball coach at Buffalo Lake-Hector High School. He's been around for a long while.

Esq- a good summary of UST-- lots of talent (as much as anyone in the league), inability to win when it counts (some might say that's where this thing called 'coaching' comes into play and is a key to SJU's and Cord's success).

UST will be OK on defense, altho replacing Ubbelholde will be a big challenge. The offense will see a RB-by-committee (again) and a QB debate (do they go with the senior, Jansen, who probably isn't as bad as his sats indicate or the soph Sauer who looked Parnelleqsue in his big-stage debut?) WR will not be a problem, as they are deep there, but can someone consistently thtrow to them and will there be a running game to keep defesnes honset? 4-4 in MIAC is a realistic finish, 5-3 is pushing it, 3-5 if luck is all bad.

The MIAC will be four battles: Ham & Carls fight for 8th. GAC and AUG fight for 6th. Bethel, Olaf and UST battle for third. CON and SJU will be heads & shoulders ahead of the field, and both should make NCAA field. (however, is Mauer decides to take snaps at UST during the Twins off season, this could change! not a change in Hades of that happening)

Agreed...KR if the streak ends because of your absence, your karma should take a pounding...if the streak continues, you should be karmalized to infinity

Did anyone else catch CC's tirade after the game? Here's a snippet.

''I was frustrated the whole game. I don't think I had a called strike in the first inning. That's crazy. I know I'm not Greg Maddux with pinpoint control, but I throw strikes.''

Maybe try cocking your hat a little more next time buddy.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Does he understand it needs to be in the batter's strike zone, not his own? :)

Fins,

As a current sales professional and former accounting weenie I really got a kick out of that.

The code we use is "find the raincoat."

An extra ;) trip to Duluth generally covers many of the incidentals.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

My thanks to everyone who showed up for the Chaska Cubs/MIAC Night last evening. Nice win for the Cubs when they scored all their runs in the bottom of the eighth to shut out the Rochester Royals. Great to see miacmaniac and raiderguy at the ballpark.

Schools that were represented were SJU, UST, St. Olaf, Concordia and Gustavus along with Mount Union. I can only assume that students and alums from Auggie Tech were out getting intoxicated to celebrate one of their own being crowned Ms. Minnesota yesterday. Congrats to her.

As usual, the Stiftungsfest burgers went over very well. Good warmup for September 2.
