THE HALL FOR COACH JOHN - WHERE WILL THE JOHNNIES GO THIS FALL?

Fall practice, though starting in the summer, has already begun;
may it never end for the coach in Collegeville, coaching two grandsons.

Season number 58, passing Amos A. Stagg, joining him in the Hall of Fame;
a season of ten games and five more, West Region, semis and the Stagg game!

More of the Cobbers and, like `05, all in the MIAC will be shown the door;
pretenders like UST, St. Olaf, Bethel and Hamline, no need to say any more.

But what about the WIAC team that showed the Johnnies why a game is like war?
Initially advancing, then blown apart, turnover after turnover, SJU was dead to the core.

The WarHawks, sustaining the battle edge against the Cats in the Dome,
then coming close in the Stagg Bowl, the Raiders again taking the gold home.

Reading this poem on the D3 board, knowing the teams above and posters galore,
names like Kilted Rat, Duffman, Finsleft, Touchdown Tommy, so many more.

Acquaintances all, coming together at the Stiftungsfestivities, red cups all;
friendships driven by the plays on Clemens field; remember Rich Hall, this is your `06 call.

Be in Collegeville this fall, watching the Johnnies and Gagliardi;
travel to the town by Fargo and then St. Paul where UST will be so tardy.

Oh, that team near Fargo, ahead with seconds to go, then Kofoed to Gearman;
SHOCK for the Cobbers, cheers for the Johnnies, class on the field after, all gentlemen.

Beyond the MIAC, Johnnies and the Cobbers, a repeat of `05 or more in `06?
Whitewater, Linfield, maybe Central and Monmouth, a few other teams from the sticks.

All from the West Region, winner of two of the last three Staggs, one second.
This year could make it three of the now four; who of the three will be secondary?

Preseason ratings only worth nothing, Mount, WW, SJU and then Linfield;
the post-season rating: SJU, then Mount, WW and Linfield, the latter all losing on the field.

To everyone on this board, all the best from Johnnie Red.

Unfortunately, John will never allow live streaming of SJU football. He barely let us hook up that cheap, stationary webcam in the pressbox.

JP - Just going back over some of the posts I missed while I was gone.  What's John's reason for not wanting live streaming of games?

The Johnnies' 2006 football roster will be posted on Monday, August 14 and then updated following each practice.

You mean posted online?  And when you say updated following each practice, are you talking about a depth chart or just the roster itself?

johnniepress

John does not want live streaming for a pair of reasons: gate (big reason why none of the games are televised) and scouting purposes (though easy for Minnesota schools to attend SJU games, out-of-state and possible playoff opponents will only see two game tapes come playoff time).

The roster is now posted online. With a roster around 190 players, numbers, heights, weights, positions, etc. change on a daily basis.

Don't worry, the Word/html roster version is only temporary for the time being. The new roster setup will be up and going during the first week of the season.

There were rumors a few years back of SJU sending out game tapes to playoff opponents with, um, less than full game content. According to the legend (the story, nots Gags), the tapes were replaced with the editted material back in when it was reported. If he's allegedly stingy with material that's required by NCAA law, why would he provide it for everyone around the country to see?

I don't know why Frank hasn't posted this yet, but apparently GAC's new stadium deal isn't exactly on the fast track. According to another rumor, the funds haven't been flowing in and the field will still be top-notch real grass instead of field turf. No idea what else had to be cut out of the budget to make this work, but it's definitely NOT the best of situations if it's true...Hopefully Frank can keep us in the loop when he hears more.

Mongo - What are the chances you can get the Las Vegas team you interned with to sponsor the stadium? I mean, Hoag will soon be the centerpiece of their team, right? It's a natural connection to me.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Kilted-
I love how all the Johnnies fans think BU is "cheap" and that we "punch peeps for Jesus"...I didn't know everyone else in the MIAC was perfect human beings.  Don't deny the fact that when it comes to Bethel, every little thing is monitored.  Not mad, just stating a point...it's funny!  I still love ya, Kilted!

Hey, it wasn't a Johnnie who made the infamous quote about punching a teammate in the nose because that's what Jesus would do! ;D

No one, especially Johnnies ever claimed to be perfect human beings.

I think I can return your sentiment but I have to confirm with the Mrs first that I am allowed to return that sentiment to another male particularily a Bethel Alum :o
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Johnnie Red,
You have too much free time on a sunday to write a poem like that...especially when it's 9 in the morning!

But it was very nicely put together.

FPM

So I just saw that Carleton has their roster up for 2006 and if it is complete and accurate they have 5 freshman.  I think St. John's has more fresh. from St. Cloud Tech.

DuffMan

I can't be too easy to recruit at a school like Carelton when the head coach leaves.  Give Ramler a few years and I'm sure things will look up for them.

On a totally non-football related note (can you imagine?), does anyone have any idea how to get rid of a muskrat?  I discovered one making it's home in the transom of the pontoon.  I don't want to shoot it in the water.

Kilted-
True, true

Duff-
The most effective way to get rid of a muskrat is to trap it, but you can use isolation methods as well (because they like to be in a group (don't exactly know how you would accomplish this)).  I would first try muskrat repellent/noise makers to try to get rid of it first.  I am sure in MN they have some repellent you can buy at a hardware store or somethin'.

Mighty Royal

How's a 12 gauge for a noisemaker?  That's what it's gonna get if I see him next weekend.

What?   That's illegal?    ::)         Although, with the exception of beaver (don't have time to even touch that one!)  I thought you could dispose of any nuisance rodent.  And since you'd be out here in the sticks, you could shoot it.  (Although I'd recommend the .22 if you're in close proximity to the 'toon)

Ok- Beaver is never a nuisance, unless of course you're TDT....
My grandmother is over eighty and still doesn't need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle.  (Yasmine Bleeth comment valid unless prohibited by your College's code of ethics for Alums)

Thanks Duff.  How exactly did you get the pic to post?
