TGP loves that the Guru is throwing out the "DUDE"   :)

Re: LD's comment re: kids.

Easier said than done.  TGP assumes LD doesn't have any......given, TGP is just coming off a 3 hr train ride from SD to LA where his 2.5 yr old daughter cried all the way from Oceanside to Fullerton.  It sucked.

I have sympathy and can tolerate it when parents are trying to quiet the kids or whatever.....it's the ignoring their behavior in public (esp planes) that makes me mad.

I sat in the middle (aisle seat) of  a family of 5 going to Aruba and almost killed someone that morning.

Much appreciated.  I don't have to pay the toll, it's the GD traffic that is ridiculous in a state with a population of 27.

Lucky you -- I've found the toll reliably backed up at the end of holiday weekends but don't have any other good predictors for you there.

Just tell your daughter that the beatings will continue until morale improves!!!!  Then fly this flag off your front porch

This is the key.  Lil JT was fascinated by planes so this wasn't an issue.  But usually just a threat of a beating shut him up.

Worse beatings were the sylable beatings any other LLPPers get those?

That [wham] is [wham] the [wham] last [wham] time [wham] I'm [wham] go [wham]ing[wham] to [wham] tell [wham] you [wham] to [wham] be[wham]have[wham]. This is where Mom would stop.

Yeah TGP finds the new age "non-beating" approach to be interesting.  Mrs. TGP even won't raise her voice to the kids, taking a more "look them in the eye and explain to them what will happen (usually just getting sent to their room) if they continue to misbehave" approach.

Back in the day TGP got beaten by one or more of the following and TGP turned out alright:

Ping Pong Paddle:

The Wooden Spoon:

Leather belt:

by Hand:

JT

+k pics for some of the parental devices used on JT.  Dad was mostly just imposing.  Just watching him dress down some noncom made quite a impression on JT.  Mom would use whatever she got her hands on... shoes, wiffle bat, wooden spoon, wet dishrag etc.  Everything was somewhat tolerable except hair pulling.  She'd grab a headful and yank.  Forget about sitting down, she wouldn't let go.

JT thinks he will probably beat a little less, but he won't be afraid to drop the hammer when it requires it.

TGP's folks finally gave up on the beatings when TGP was big (and willing) enough to stand ready to battle with armed with a wooden desk chair.

Only groundings followed after that show down.

JT

JT's beating stopped because of two things:

1) He would laugh when Mom hit em

2) It was the last time she tried a little quick kick to the butt cause JT caught her foot and made her hop around the dining room table before letting go.

Google map for reference.

When I first started dodging this toll, it was a buck and a quarter. :)

Look at the Guru throwing out some cost saving tactics. I say we form a consulting firm & pitch our ability to provide incremental cost savings to all D3 schools & fans. We'll be paid a percent of savings.

EDIT: Wow, I have had entirely too long of a day when I'm thinking work related financial analysis on the DIII board.

Don't want to air our dirty laundry on the ATN board so I figured I'd come here....

I'm pisses Union is only playing 9 games this year!!!  Out of conf. is pretty solid with Muhlenburg (?) and Springfield.....
RPI plays 9 with Endicott & Utica....

Here's an idea....stop playing in the fruity golf tourney and don't buy raffle tix....you need to make a statement to Ms. Jackson (enter Andre' 2000).

The Union golf tourney is August 10, with a trip to Saratoga on Saturday....I would invite you dude's to buy some raffle tix, but if Reg or Gro took our wine money....we may have to run them over with our Volvo's.
