Eligibility....?

So i've been calling the NCAA eligibility and getting put on hold. I've gotten several different answers from coaches regarding  this question so I figured I'd just post on here and ask.

years 1-2 at a juco. I did not play ANY sports
now transferring to another juco to improve some grades and will play football in years 3-4.

Will I have any years of eligibility left after these two years? Some people say no while others say I still have 2-3 because I did not play at the first junior college. Thanx for your help.

You get 10 semesters of college to finish 4 years of eligibility. Your 10-semester "clock" is ticking whether you play sports or not. The only way to "pause" your clock is to withdraw from school completely.

So for you it would look like this:

Semester 1 - Fall at JUCO A
Semester 2 - Spring at JUCO A
Semester 3 - Fall at JUCO A
Semester 4 - Spring at JUCO A
Semester 5 - Fall at JUCO B
Semester 6 - Spring at JUCO B
Semester 7 - Fall at JUCO B
Semester 8 - Spring at JUCO B

So when you leave JUCO B, you will have been in college for 8 semesters. That means you have two semesters of eligibility left. Since they don't play football in the spring, you will have 1 football season of eligibility remaining when you leave your second JUCO.

Find a football-playing school that has the course of study that you wish.  If you are good enough, then you can fight for playing time.

Just so you're clear, an athletic scholarship was out of the question anyway. There are none in Division III.  That might have been what you meant.

Yeah I know that. I was meaning d1 or d2 schools with that but im strictly looking d3 as of now. What would it take to make the team at UW Whitewater?

Be advised that WIAC schools (like UW-Whitewater) have a 100-man roster limit. So the challenge for a transfer senior to make the team there might be a little greater.

But by all means, explore every school that fits what you need academically and athletically.  (And probably lean more toward academics when push comes to shove.)

You forget there was a transfer senior a couple seasons ago that made quite an impact there... He was definately up for the challenge - I believe he was a QB who led the Warhawks to the National Championship!! A 100-man roster didn't stand in his way. Probably the exception to the rule, though.
