ECSU ....thanks for the comment.  Amherst is the top seed in the conf. playoffs...thereby should host the semi- finals.  The winner of the playoffs is the conference title holder...gets the AQ for the post season.  Presently, they are ranked first in the regionals and possibly No. 1 in the nation in some polls which helps in getting a NCAA bid if they lose in the playoffs.

ECSU defeats RIC 4-1 this afternoon including another 25 yrd free kick blast into right corner by Mitch Power 8-).  RIC scored with a minute left in the game.
The Warriors will play the winner of the Keene St/UMD game, (played tonight at 6:30pm), on Saturday for the LEC title and another NCAA Tourney bid.

UMD coming to Thomas Nevers Field Saturday to play ECSU for the LEConference Tournament Championship.  It should be a different result in Willimantic on Saturday, than it was last Saturday in Dartmouth MA ;D

What a difference home field advantage makes with the ECSU Warriors, as this time, they, outclass the UMD Corsairs for a 3-1 LEC Tournament Championship victory.  Mitch Power started out the scoring for Eastern with a spectacular left footed blast from 20 yard into the upper left corner off a cross by fellow senior Carl Stensland.  UMD keeper Carranza had no chance.  Power followed that up with a penalty kick later when he was pulled down in the box
UMD scored on a penalty kisk with at the 20 min mark 2nd half.

ECSU ...thanks for keeping track and the interest :).  +Karma
Is it possible our school teams will meet in the post season?  Selection this Monday.

ECSU....the NCAA bracket answered my question.  If our teams survive the first round, they should meet in the next round.  Looking forward to the match :).

amh63,
Thank You sir, Would be nice to face the Lord Jeffs again, however, I think the Warriors are a little to young this year to go far into the tourney.  They played with a lot of freshman this year, have no juniors, and although they will graduate Mitch Powers next year, I am confident that this years FR and So class will develop into team that will have chance to go deep in a couple of years!!

I will be rooting for the LJ again this year to go all the way!!
BTW we got reservations at the Lord Jeffery Inn in Amherst for the Jan 7 basketball matchup with Eastern!!  Very excited to spend some time in Amherst and to experience LeFrak  8-)

ECSU.....Amherst has just posted on its athletic website, the upcoming NCAA contest to be held at Amherst.  The post has previews of all the site participants.  They also cite that there is a webcast of the games....I guess to be reached by going to the Amherst website.  Enjoy the game on Sat....it starts at 11 AM.   Still hope both our teams meet on Sunday.

ECSU 0 Gordon 0 halftime.  Both teams have had chances but have not converted.

Nice shot by ECSU that pings the crossbar, and then the nightmare name "Kasiguran" finishes a Kai-esque type goal...

Congrats to Gordon College in their 1-0 victory over the Eastern Warriors.
ECSU had chances but could not put the ball in the net... unfortunately.

However...Another great season for Coach DeVito and the Warriors. I will really miss Srs Carl Stensland, Mitch Power, and Luke Capezzone, as well as Chris Giustina, Mike Radelbeck and Dan Eisenmann... great college soccer careers!!!

It was lastguy,  and would have probably been the winning goal, but as you well know soccer can be a game of inches.  Gordon played well, controlled/possessed
the ball more efficiently and....... got the winning goal, which was a beauty!!!

Congrats to the ECSU Men and Women's Soccer teams for efforts both on the field and in the classroom.

Inspirational article on ECSU standout defender Jon DeCasanova who was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and given less than a one-percent chance of survival last year.
Looks like he may be back on the field if things continue to go well for him 8-)
