With UW Superior and Findlandia leaving the WIAC, the three remaining schools will be without a conference. This does not look good for the remaining schools as games will be harder to come by now that the UW schools are not forced to face each other.

Where is Finlandia heading? It makes sense for UW-Superior to leave because of travel distance and location. Regarding Men's Soccer, the Yellowjackets will be in a great position to make the NCAA Tournament due to the competition in the UMAC. It will be St. Scholastica or UW-Superior every year.

As for the remaining schools, it goes back to how it was prior to the 2009 season. UWO, UWP, and UWW will still be independent but will lose out on the conference championship and awards aspect. I don't see these three discontinuing the rivalries between themselves so games will continue to happen. Since Finlandia is not competitive with these schools, the matches between the UW schools and the Lions should be over with. UW-Superior is a quality side so I'm sure UWO, UWP, and UWW would like to continue playing UWS, but with the UMAC's long conference schedule, UWS may not have enough room for them and some MIAC schools.

In the end, it doesn't really change a whole lot for Oshkosh, Platteville, or Whitewater. Kudos to Superior on doing what's best for the school and athletic program with the Men's Soccer team benefiting the most from the move.

Rumor has it Findlandia will be going with UWS to the UMAC. Maybe they will be able to get their first conference win in program history.
